Things disapear in the mapper after editing .lst

Hotel California

Mildly Dipped
Ok, i've followed the steps in this tutorial but when i opened my mapper it made all of the scenery pieces disapear, except for the ones already used in the map.

I renamed my patch000.dat file so FO2.exe wouldn't recognise it and succesfull edited the .lst file for the scenery and placed it into the folder. I then created the scenery piece by clicking on edit on the blank space and getting the dialogue box. For some reason it said "Unable to create protos" or something.

But essentially i'm left with only the things that i had on the map before. (and it doesn't work creating a new one!)

Huh? I got the same problem, because I did not extract the lst file before adding new proto(s).

Hi, mates. You don't need to edit the proto.lst file: the mapper edits it when making new protos. You must edit the scenery art .lst though, or the games really cannot "see" your art.
Make sure you edited fo2 mapper config file:
"librarian=0" must become
"librarian=1"
I don't know if I got the thing correctly, though: do you mean that ALL scenery objects desappeared from the toolbar? It happened to me too, and I had to reinstall the mapper. Just make sure you back up your files.
Cheers.

it creates a new .lst file in the proto\scenery folder which only has two names in - my newly created pieces of scenery. When i delete it it all goes back to normal but my new scenery is broken.

You must extract lst file, than create new proto. It will not create new lst, but only edit the extracted one and everything will work ok. If you want to create screnery, you must extract master.dat/proto/scenery/scenery.lst, if you want to create new item, you must extract master.dat/proto/items/items.lst and so on...

Ok, I'm having similar problem:

1. I have Labrarian set to 1
2. I have scenery list file extracted and in the right di (data\arts\scenery)
3. I have whole proto\scenery dir extracted including the proto list file.
And still my scenery works only first time i create it in mapper, next time i run it, it's not there. I noticed that mapper is not saving my scenery proto in new 000xxx.pro file. The dir and files inside ARE NOT read only files! Someone have any ideas why is it so?
