Tiny Kazakh Town Built on a Uranium Mine Suffers Mysterious Sleeping Epidemic

Were there, by any chance, any sightings of someone looking like this?

This reminds me of that one thing in the UK called the "Hum", which is supposedly a low-sounding vibration that ends up driving people crazy (and I mean end up in prison/mental institution crazy, not funny coke whore fighting with some guy outside a motel crazy).

I'm pretty sure this was actually one of the Daedric prince quests in Skyrim. Just without the radiation thing obviously.

It really seems like "town built near Uranium mine suffers hallucinations, violent outbursts, loss of memory, mysteriously collapsing for days" and it may be the radiation or it may just be mass hysteria is a plot line from a Fallout game from an alternate universe.

Maybe the problem is of another kind.

There is an over the counter mouthwash here, called Dr. Tichenor's. IIRC it's just 70% alcohol and peppermint oil; sold concentrated as an antiseptic. To use it as a mouth wash, you're supposed to dilute it 5:1.

I have heard of, (and talked to) people that used to drink that as teenagers. One recounted how it would make his eyes burn.

Ah: 70% alcohol, peppermint oil, arnica, saccharum carbonate, and purified water. $7 +/- these days, for 16 oz.
I use it to clean my juicer.

I recreationally drink spirits with 70% alcohol or more (between 130-150 proof) and I've never experienced sensations like "eyes burning", nor does it do anything to me other than get me..... drunk.
But chopping some onions while preparing food? THAT burns my eyes (if I'm not careful)...

I think people are too quick to judge what alcohol can accomplish. Just like all the hype young people have about absinthe being like a hallucinogenic drug, when really it's just liquor. It doesn't make you high, just drunk.

Hey Doc, you might of head of this one, isn't their a Hum in Taos NM ?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hum

Yeah, I've been up to Taos twice. Both times I can honestly say I heard absolutely nothing; but then again I never stayed for longer than four days.

Yeah I agree. I was a teen when I visited, it was a nice kinda yuppie/new agey artist hub. I didn't hear a constant humming from "that" either but I did hear a lot of humming. Probably on account of all the humming bird feeders that the hotel had all over the grounds. Them little guys were buzzing around all over the place. When I got home I watched an unsolved mysteries/sightings type show and they had a segment about the Taos Hum.
