Yeah, Doomdayprepper? What is wrong with asking for some kind of restraint here and there - yeah, this goes for everyone, me included. YOu know, we all tend to forget this sometimes, but NMA is also a 'community'. When Trump is gone, some of us, maybe will be still around, and post stuff here. There is still this thing, called forum etiquette. And while it is pretty slack here, it's not completely gone - or so I hope.
No one. Fucking no one. Want's to take that 'victory' of yours away ... it's just ... kinda strange to see how MUCH some slobber over it ...
But, in all seriousness, maybe this really is a very american thing. It does always surprise us Europeans, particularly Germans. Not that we don't take ellections serious, but is far from this event like in the US. And our own ellections usually bores people absolutely to death each time it happens.

Dude, what the hell is wrong with you? There have been insults thrown around at people which ACTUALLY started a discussion ... and saying that this is a step to far is now ... making me a liberal or something? We are at the end of the day a FORUM(!), with actuall rules and etiquette.

I believe all of my posts in this thread were making a point. While a couple of them have had some level of sarcasm or snark to them, I believe I have contributed to the conversation with every post.
And besides, even when I did resort to snark, it was usually as to defend myself.

In a supermarket, people have been waiting for 19 months for a new special loaf of bread to come out.
Now, the people were not sure whether the bread company would actually release this new special loaf of bread, they really wanted it, for sure. But couldn't be sure it would actually happen.
Anyway they go to the supermarket one day and....yes!
The bread is out!!
And it is good bread, and they are all so happy. Finally the best bread in the market is out after 19 months of waiting. Makes such a change from the normal bread.
Anyway you and your mates walk in the store and start saying that the bread is crap, and it won't last long, and how you can't stand it, and how you hate it so.
They rapidly get irritated and tell you to GTFO sharpish.
You become confused and wonder why they are angry.
They are righteously pissed, because they love the bread, and you have just walked in and shat on it after 19 months of uncertainty and waiting for this bread.
This, in effect, is what has happened in this thread.

Except that we are in a public forum. The very idea of forums is to discuss ideas with one another.
If you post how much you love something in a public forum, then other people have the right to also say that they dislike it. Saying you disagree with someone isn't shitting on there opinion, as opposed to presenting an opinion of your own.
You have every right to celebrate on a forum, And I understand fully why you may feel like celebrating, but similarly other people have every right to disagree that this is a cause for celebration.
If you demand nobody goes "fully liberal" on your thread, then you are thereby missing the point of being in a forum in the first-place, by demanding that there be no discussion in a place mostly used for discussions.

I'm just so disheartened that Trump supporters are using his winning as an excuse to be as nasty as possible, and that Hillary supporters are using this as a way to demonize large parts of the population.
For the record, I wanted Sanders, but I voted Trump because I feel like he was the better choice. I hate the fear mongering and hateful rhetoric, and I'm hoping he tones it down, but I also didn't like the idea of a national security threats who destroys evidence and directly caused American deaths running things. It's a terrible choice between two terrible candidates.
We'll just have to see how turns out.
Could be the best thing this country ever has, or the worst. No middle ground. And frankly, I'm frightened for my wife and young girls and the world they're gonna inherit. But being hateful and won't change anything.
This is a test of American spirit, and, honestly, we're failing right now.
