Ugh. (TES V)

Yeah, I read that article too through a link on RPG codex.

I think its obvious; the next Elder Scrolls will have guns!
The two hundred years serve as an explanation how the people discovered gun powder and developed muskets etc.

"Ugh" indeed.

Can't really make judgements based on this, but still. They can go the way of what the article, or blurb whatever it is, writer is implying with the guns, or they can go in another direction. Who knows how the world of Elder Scrolls will progress (or regress) in 200 years, but would give them an excuse.

I highly doubt there will be guns. I don't have a particularly good argument against the possibility but I just don't think so.

I think that they need that jump in time for the story. In TES world, nothing is really bigger than what happened in Oblivion so it's understandable that they want to get away from those events as much as possible.

!!!

This time, it'll happen all over again, but instead of two giant gods fighting over the player, it will be THREE!!!

MY GOD THE INNOVASHUN!!1

so they ain't working on another Fallout game? or is there another team working on TES V?
This might explain why they let Obsidian make a Fallout game.

After I've read the 200 years thing, I thought about Arcanum. Well, not directly, but... I wouldn't be surprised if the next TES game will have more steampunk stuff in it.

I thought... maybe after Fallout, they want to do something in the Arcanum setting, just without the arcanum name. Wouldn't surprise me too. Somehow.

The demon levels... all the same... can't... deal.... with another.. demon.. tower. The horror... the poor level design horror.... among many other horrors. Oh god make it go away.

I wonder if I'll be able to traverse the world in a steampunk vehicle *shudder*.

What? You don't like this?

If Fallout 3 is of any indication of how a 200 years evolution is perceived by Bethesda, then I think TES V will take place in the stone age...

I would not read to much into the 200 years thing, in expecting it to be set in a more technologically advanced setting and what not.
More or less it will probably just be used to distance its self from the Oblivion story line as much as possible.

I hope that is the case at least, I despise the steam punk type settings. It took me a long time to forgive Blizzard for what they did with Warcraft III. Adding in all the tanks and gyro copters and stuff.

That is just me though. I personally despise Sci-Fi. I love fantasy but the fantasy I am into is very traditional Dungeons & Dragons/Lord of the Rings type stuff.

where has it been stated or even hinted that TES V would be steampunkish and have guns and stuff???

I'm sure things will be same old same old in the Elder Scrolls series. I don't really think guns would be in it, and I don't see steampunk in the future. It's probably just as maximaz said, they need to get away from the events of Oblivion.

Yea if I was to guess, the change in time is just going to be a change in events/story line, and technology-wise, will see no changes.

Please, Bethesda isn't creative enough to smoothly integrate a transition setting a la Arcanum.
