Streaming services are the next step, the bright future of modern 21st century gaming. I'm well aware you didn't mention it, just pointning out that's where we are heading and why.

Yeah well I'm not trying out streaming. Fuck that shit. I know we're headed for it and I can tolerate digital as long as we have things like GOG. Streaming is another issue and something I'm not going for. Hell, if it were really up to me I'd have everything physical with digital back ups that weren't copy protected so if something happened to the physical copy I have a working copy on my drives.

Doesn't need to be that bleak.
Like Squadcar mentioned, I was refering to DRM-free aspect of digital services. GOG for games, bandcamp for music etc.
I don't like streaming either and I don't use it. It is one of the banes of modern gaming, along with F2P model and microtransactions. But those aren't the only options on the market, thankfully.
I understand you dislike digital purchasing (as I've mentioned, I too mostly buy physical copies) and as I've said before, it's personal preference, but the fact is there are plenty of "good" digital options out there. I'd rather see those options remain viable and expand than become obsolete.

I suppose one bright side to going digital only is I probably won't bother with anything new ever again so I could catch up on the near infinite amount of content that already exists.

I hear ya brother. My most recent PC game purchase was of a game that came out in 2005. the one before that, 2000.
 
Not having any time to play video games but continuing to buy them to contribute to an ever growing backlog because "im a collector" is totally valid and kosher

I've gathered a few unpopular opinions, after delving into Spotify for a while:

Led Zeppelin are boring as hell
Journey gave me dysentery, that's how boring they are
The Doors are so, so boring, "riders on the stooooooooooorm..... into this house were booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooorn... "
fuck, next time I get a root canal, ditch the opiates, just play me some Journey, and I might even fall into a fucking coma.

Oh, and what's with people's adoration of that boring as shit Kansas song, Wayward Son, I blame Guitar Hero for bringing that snoozefest of a song back from the grave

Lynyrd Skynyrd are boring and their name is dumb.
