Wasteland 2 Kickstarter Update #17: Vision Document

Liam Neeson doesn't suck so badly. Its the role Bethesda gave him that sucked together with a bad director of that role most likely. If his lines had been created by someone competent at writing and if his charecter and story would have been believable then we would not think of him as such a bad voice actor. Bethesda is a team of very good mathematicians and coders, but they truly lack in the creative side of things and that hurts the games they produce. Their structure is very valid and good but without the creative direction that for instance obsidian has. The game just falls short. Fallout 3 especially does a very poor job of being a successor of the fallout series and that more than anything hurts the game.

Ofcourse those who are not so old and love games like oblivion and skyrim love fallout 3... Fallout new vegas is less loved by these kinds of people because you have to think more tactically about how you create your charecter and the quests requires you to think more. Whereas in fallout 3 you could just kill everything that moves and you win at life!

I don't think he sucked. It was just a waste of resources to pay some big name actor for a role that was ridiculously shallow. Good voice actors are around that wouldn't cost as much to hire.

Fallout (1) had big(ger) name voice actors too, btw. :>

For sure. But it was a different time. Back when BIS was starting, videogame voice acting wasn't that serious a department, and that's something Chris Borders wanted to change.

That includes top-notch voice actors like Charles Adler and Tony Jay, but it also included some big-name guys like Richard Dean Anderson and Clancy Brown.

That said, I'd compare Fallout more to casting Patrick Stewart for Oblivion. Big name? Yes. But also an excellent voice cast in the right role. Or Max von Sydow. Shakespearian actors for a fantasy game.

Liam Neeson? Neeson doesn't act with his voice. His voice is a bland, monodrone humdrum. He's a fine actor, yes, but he acts with his face and eyes much more than with his voice. That's just bad casting.

I disagree. Liam Neeson has a good voice for an authoritative role. See--->all his movies. He was the dad in fallout 3 right? That guy was a pussy. (no offence ladies)

Anyway I just got here. Need to read it still. Hope they added bars where you can drink to blow off steam. Always got my party drunk in baldurs gate.

Edit: Just read it. It was like reading drugs.

Also you prob. only make max. 4 Rangers(unmodded game?), and work up to a 7 member party further into the game. The option of just creating one ranger is prob. there also.

i am not saying Liam has a shit voice. Just that he is not a voice actor.

2 different things in my book. He has a good voice. But it needs like you say a strong character and thus it works very much with the mimic. Liam is an actor the needs a face.

Good or great voice actors which do it for a living have a different quality. Take mark hamill which has done the voice of the Joker in the animated Batman series.
