Wasteland Landscape

Daan Radiation

First time out of the vault
Hey,
here is my first landscape in Gimp 2 I think it's pretty good.

Mountains in a post-apocalyptic landscape, in front of that some mist, in front of that trees in front of that just land and in front of that is a really
dirty (Maybe chemical?) lake.

And yes I put the higlighted area at the biggest mountain wrong it should have been left because of the sun, I noticed this when I was already finished.

Please let me know what you think of it.

That's just not very good at all. On all levels. It lacks personality, it lacks character, it lacks points of interest, it lacks a composition worth putting on "paper" in the first place. The colour scheme is boring and predictable. The lake doesn't look dirty. The mist doesn't look like mist. The trees don't look like trees.

And so on.

Hey: it may sound harsh, but that's just how it is, man.

I laughed, harder and harder, you are right, but it was my first try and the colour scheme is meant to be boring/depressive and last but not least: I did it in 7 minutes
And the trees are only trunks because they are burned by the atom bomb...
And btw the water DOES look dirty, or are you used to green-brownish dark not-opaque water???

Anyway your right and I suck at it... For now

I wanted to type that it would be rude to mock your courageous seven-minute attempt, but I started laughing and spilled beer all over my sweat-shirt.

As for ponds and seas and rivers and canals, I'm pretty much used to green-brownish water, actually. Which usually makes it opaque. :P

Look, Daan, it ain't bad for seven minutes of work. Just keep drawing. One has to start somewhere.

You're right and btw I didn't use a tablet so it was done with the mouse and I'm better on paper (I really am)!

I agree. You should have left it up or the thread is pointless. Now I'm just curious.

Well it's not horrible. Not too interesting, but not atrocious. Don't be ashamed of it. Just keep trying and don't give up.
