why is BOS so bad?

I don't understand why everything I read on this site about BOS is so negative. Just because it's not an RPG doesn't mean it has to be a horrible game. If it sucks when it comes out, then fine; bash the hell out of it. But why all the bad press when no one's played it? Can't we tolerate Fallout in a different genre? Personally, I think it's cool to see this universe branching out.

I guess just looking at all the preview information that Interplay has provided you can tell it's bad. Generally a company shows the best they have to make the game appear good but Interplay doesn't. The screen's they have look like crap, the trailer looks atrocious with its speed-metal music. I try to be optimistic but everything that is out there makes it impossible.

Also, a lot of us here dont like the idea that they are using the Fallout name, if they want to make a post-apocolyptic shooter game, then they can call it... nuclear wars or some shit... fallout is a name given to a respect Role Playing Game, ever since fallout 2 and even worse fallout tactics left, and bended, the rules and plots that were implied with the first fallout, fans that know what the game is have been disappointed.

You have to understand, we dont mind if you make something related to the fallout setting, but if its not a RPG, dont use the "fallout" name.

1. The games graphics look awful. Granted it's not done yet, but it still looks like ass.

2. The lead designer pitches it as a mindless action game whose main attractions are "blowing shit up", hookers, and smashing ghouls with sledgehammers.

3. The lead designer comes off as an idiot in everthing he writes. This does not give me any confidence in his ability to make a good game. I might not like a lot of JE's proposed changes/additions to Fallout, but he's obviously a very intelligent guy and has given his Fallout project a lot of thought - you can't say the same for Chucky.

4. If this game simply had a post-nuclear apocalypse setting it might have been given a chance by the people now ridiculing it, as this setting isn't very common in games. It's very obvious though that the Fallout name is just being slapped on it in an effort to sell a "brand name" product and nothing more. Not exactly something that spells "Quality Game" to me.

5. Why should Fallout be translated to another genre? The post-nuclear setting is pretty fertile ground - are game developers so unimaginative and unispired that they need to constantly milk FO for their ideas? Do you think it's a good idea to spread the specific FO world so thin that even if a good game were to be developed from it later on deathclaws, ghouls, power armor, etc, are just seen as tired and cliche? If game developers can't be bothered with putting some thought into the games they're making, why should I or anyone else give their games a chance?

And one very sad point

Chucky worked with the original Fallout IIRC. Looks like Chucky learned from Feargus and not from Tim, Leonard or Chris.

Everybody's negative about the game because it comes from the developer of the two greatest games ever, fallout 1 and 2. Instead of continuing there popular and excellent series, they decided to go into the typical action game where you wander around and shoot stuff. They think that BOS is gunna make some kind of difference to the console genre. Hardly anyone there marketing the game to knows about fallout, let alone has played it and i doubt anyone will be interested in the game. Sure, it will sell, but the person who buys it will take it back to where they bought it and demand a refund. See, this is what i hate these days, developers hear about there game selling, but they never hear about it being returned. They could have made it an FPS, at least then it would have been mildly interesting. There are so many more options they could have taken.

yes FPS for that lame ass game would be better, id buy it only if it was FPS and came out for computer. but both wont happen so its still a piece of shit game .
