Wish List for Next fallout game

CthuluIsSpy

A Smooth-Skin
Here's what I want in the next FO game. Feel free to join in :)

-Old school laser rifle. They brought back the old plasma rifle, why not the laser rifle?

-Old school laser pistol. See above.

-An actual different experience from playing a stupid character

-<strike>Dual Wield. Duel .223 pistols? YES PLEASE!</strike> Nvm, dumb skyrim inspired idea. The extra rate of fire would be nice, but how do you aim and reload? Grow a third arm?

-An actual challenging game. Compared to FO1 and FO2, the new FO games are ridiculously easy. Though the hardcore mode in FO:NV was a nice touch.

-Gauss Pistol

-An actual threatening villain. The Legion in NV sucked, and were nowhere near as terrifying and ominous as the master's army and the enclave.

-The ability to play as a ghoul

-The ability to become a psyker. We keep encountering them, why not become them?

-The ability to play as a Super Mutant. Ok, so you could become one in FO1, let's take it one step further.

Psychic powers in general do not fit the Fallout setting, the only exceptions being extreme mutants like the Master, the Psykers in his vault, and the Beastlords who are the results of generations of mutations.

Psychic powers are akin to magic powers, and the role of buffs and so on has been relegated to technology and drugs.

It would be the same as asking for nuclear or atomic powers.

They aren't as rare as you think.

Here's a list

-The Master (FO1)

-Melchior (FO2)

-Those 4 test subjects in FO1

-Hakunin (how else does he use his "visions"?) (FO2)

-That fortune teller in NV

-Ghosts (Fallout 2 and New Vegas)

-Professor Calvert (FO3)

That means that there has been at least 1 psyker in nearly each game

So yeah, it should be possible...but very hard to obtain if so.

It was just a thought anyway.

Honestly, expect for those in original Fallout, I never liked them much.

They went a bit over-the-top on many things in Fallout 2, and psykers are on the bottom of the list. Though ghosts are really annoying for me...

I'm not sure why they added psykers in NV... Homage, I understand, but it was unnecessary, to be honest.

However, now that you mention Calwert, considering what Beth has done in FO3, with the nuclear bomb perk and everything, I wouldn't be surprised if you could actually become a psyker in Fallout 4.

This is one for DLC's, make them non linear.
Poin Lookout was the best DLC in F3 due to the freedom and the exploration

Also, they should include new factions. The Enclave are dead. The BoS are nearly dead and the NCR seem to takeover everything. Ceaser's Legion was a nice sense of originality. Also, give us more side quests that help conclude the game ie, help out small settlement, they help you at big war at end, piss off small settlement, they fight against you

This.

Though the Legion was a bit lame as a main villain IMO.
House would have been a better antagonist.

Could you clarify this? It sounds like you'd rather have a clear antagonist to me, rather than a morally grey faction with whom you could side with to fight off the other possible factions.

Personally I think we have had enough armies for a while in Fallout, especially ones that serve as antagonists.

Hell no to Dual Wielding

More of the Legion, and not this pussy "STFU Profligate" crap. I am talking like the message they left at Ranger Station Charlie

Why not Duel Wielding?

And yeah, I would like to see a much darker legion.
I never really got the impression that they were that big of a threat.
If there were more atrocities like at Nipton and Station Charlie then maybe...but currently, no.

Because Dual Wielding is a crappy idea to begin with. Take your 223 pistol deal- It has 2 sights, that get put in a line between your eye and the target. Putting these 4 points in a straight line is how sights work. With Dual Wielding, you are now holding weapons at your sides, not aiming at all. Far as weapons go, Fallout is pretty good about realism. They have things like weapon degrading, hand loading ammo or bob effect. To add dual wielding firearms is just a play to make it more FPS like

Fallout had dual-wielding, but it was cut during some stages of development. I wouldn't like it in my game, but seeing what sort of things there are in Skyrim, it wouldn't surprise me.

As for the Legion, someone said they want it darker.

I don't agree with this.
What Legion needs is more clarification, so to speak.
Originally, developers intended for them to be a bit on the bad side, but have some things that wouldn't put them in the cliché villains basket, which, obviously, didn't quite work out.

Legion path was definitely a poorest one, with no path-specific companions and only a few quests, and as such, was quite doomed to failure. In addition, some motifs behind Legion remain obscure, as if developers weren't sure what exactly they wanted of them.
This is a shame really. The may be just another evil army in a long series of such in this franchise, but they had a dose of originality to them. They still have it, but it needs to be worked on more.

My problem with the legion is that as a villainous faction, and yes they were villainous (more so though grey, anyway), they were pretty pathetic. Especially if you were planning to join them.

Let's see, they had

-terrible quests

-No good equipment that was actually worth it, in comparison to the other stuff out there

-no followers

-Rather terrible design overall. Seriously, Roman luddites? Sure it's original, but come on...

I honestly tried joining them twice, and both times I gave up because it was so unbelievably boring.

Now the enclave and the master's army...That I think would have been interesting to be a part of.

There were ghosts in New vegas? I remember the "Ghost! in FO2, it was a crazy woman with a stealthboy and I think you could actually kill her, but I don't remeber any ghosts in NV, aside from the Ghostpeople (and that was just a name) and the Holograms.

There were in honest hearts.

You had to kill some bear ghost thing.

It was kinda dumb imo. I'm fine with psykers, but ghosts are pushing it.

Still shows that there have been at least 1 supernatural thing in each of the canonical games (counting psykers as supernatural).

Wasn't the bear just a regular Bear twisted in an halucinations because of the drugs they gave you?

Avellone has expressed his dislike for the Psykers to exist in the setting to begin with. And I agree, Clabert was "psychic" because of the machine he was keeping himself alive, it wasn't supernatural but rahther more SCIENCE!

And the other psykers were also produced by science and mutations.
was there a body of the "ghost"? I don't remember being able to loot it.

Are you two talking about "Ghost of She"? That was just a yao guai that you hallucinated was on fire... once she died, she was just a regular yao guai and you cut her paw off and made it into a deathclaw gauntlet.

I myself don't want psykers because then that just opens up the doorway to needless amounts of "powers" - the new Fallouts are too much "Elder Scrolls" as it is without adding psychic abilities into the mix. You give an inch on this issue, people will want to take three inches and next thing you know, we'll have people claiming it should be an "infamous" clone.

Super mutants are okay, as long as it makes sense.
