Supposing that Marcus is at least 120 years old, I'd say the life expectancy is good enough.

Since the advantages would be that your tough, super-strong, can take a shit ton of bullets before you die, and are pretty much more equipped for life in the wasteland then humans, I'd say it's 100% worth it.

I can't imagine retaining intelligence considering how it's all irradiated and FEV-ed outside. Especially metal constructions like cars and walls of Junktown (preferable place of living in Fallout universe in early 21xx).

But Super Mutants can still work in porn industry since it doesn't say in the game that they necessarily lose their very genitalias, only getting sterile. Ghouls have higher chance of this happening.

Or monster slayers for hire.

So IDK really...

I rather not have people's first impression of me consist mostly being shot.

BTW: Shouldn't Super Mutants have a different scale for their SPECIAL or a different number range like a floor or a ceiling?
 
Oh also, this doesn't have to be in a apocalyptic setting perse. And I'd keep my ass out of firefights as much as a Super Mutant as I do as a human

Lou Tenant maintained his intelligence, along with Marcus, Neil, and a couple dozen other Supermutants.

Thing is, only assholes would shoot a Supermutant without any valid reason, and if they do, your a Supermutant, you could easily overpower them.

I pretty much sure their radiation exposure was really low. Or better - they from that vault dwellers group captured by the Master.

The question asked was "If you could retain your intelligence".

Since there is a possible way of retaining your intelligence as a Supermutant, I'm sure that this hypothetical scenario would make sure you had low-radiation exposure.
 
There is a reason why Lou Tenant isn't quick to drop you into the vats before finding out where your vault is. Marcus doesn't seem to remember his life before being a Super Mutant. Also, the inherit subservience to the Master.

Well, Lou Tenant is established super mutant with established intelligence while everyone else here including you and me are just 'hypotetical scenarios'. If we were vault dwellers or just far from civilization then yes but that 10% of happening at best.

I think you missed the point. This is a hypothetical scenario.

If a Hypothetical scenario says "Would you do X, if Y still happened", it's kind of assumed that any means required to meet Y would be met. Therefore I think it's safe to assume that in this scenario, we would be the kind that survived and retained our intelligence.

No, but if you don't remember any of your life before becoming a Supermutant, surely it could be argued that without your past memories/attitudes/experiences that you aren't really the same person.
