Your favorite GTA-part

Schuljunge

Still Mildly Glowing
So lets discuss about, which GTA-part is the best, including 2d and 3d GTA, okay there is a big difference, but some features and things you may like in those gta-series better.

So i played GTA2, GTA 3, GTA: Vice City and GTA:SA, so lets start. And my favorite of them all is... *drumstick*

GTA: Vice City

The unique style of the game is just awesome, also compared to the GTA3 part, there are lot of new things, like better graphics(okay, but thats not so important). The mainthing to me, was the 70s (i think) look and those characters, which perfectly fitted in the whole setting. If you saw the film "Blow", you know what im talking about. The quests like driving with your motorbike on roofs of different houses or hunting somebody with the speedboad were so classic. The music which came out the Radio were mostly excellent tracks, while GTA:SA had some things like 2pac and Dr.Dre, which was pretty overused, maybe because i listen to Hip Hop by myself. All in all GTA:SA was a pretty good game, but i just didnt like the setting(too much typicial hip hop cliché´s)and the design of the maps/world, there were sometimes bigass roadstreets and a industry-area, but i missed some style and some details in it. Thats nothing compared to the wonderful beachside of GTA:SA or the houses, which were painted in different colors. The weapons of GTA:Vice City were pretty dope, i love that chainsaw-sound *RRRiiiinnnGGG*. The weapons of GTA:SA were a little bit... mhh... well, this or maybe i just didnt like the new Aiming-Feature from GTA:SA, where from the perspective like Sam-Fisher. Its so "not-GTA" to me. Overall, maybe you feel the same way like me that GTA:Vice City, followed by GTA 3(where the basics of a GTA-3D were set), GTA2D are the best parts of the whole series.

So my final list is:
1.GTA:VC
2.GTA3
3.GTA:SA(still a very good game)
4.GTA 2D

Maybe someone can add some feedback for the other GTA:Parts, which i dont have mentioned like the PSP-Versions(interesting to me is: GTA:Vice City Stories) or the other 2d-game, dont know exactly.

Hehe, looking forward for the new GTA4 :D, it must rock! (hopefully not the future-setting :>) (Infos about GTA4, not rumors, in this thread)
edit, oh there are infos, my bad, here´s the link:

Discuss.

Having played GTA 1, 3, Vice City and San Andreas, I'd say that Vice City is my favorite, purely for its setting.

Riding on a chopper bike down a seaside avenue with palm trees on each side, pedestrians dressed in 80s clothing strolling carelessly around, the sun beginning to set in the background, and all that happening while 80s rock/metal tunes are on V-Rock radio station...

Can't get any better than this.

For me it's a tie between the original game and Vice City.

I never really got into San Andreas, I disliked the style, the bike-riding, the need to develop your character: it never felt like GTA to me.

Now, the first game was awesome. It was simple, but stylish, had some fun missions and it was a great arcade-style game with lots of coolness, with, interestingly, San Andreas being the best part of the game.

I dislike GTA 2's art style and gang system, besides which the missions never appealed to me.

Vice City is a ompletely different story. The atmosphere was great, much better than in GTA3, the interface works wonderfully, the missions are entertaining and roaming the world is just plain fun.

GTA:VC.

SA was too long winded, and the character building (as Sander said) wasn't the way I had learnt to appreciate GTA.

VC had such a great story, and the scenery at some places was amazing.

I love the 80's too!

I'd have to go with either the original for its simplicity and yet sheer fun factor or GTA3 for its successful revamping of the series.

While I agree that VC was better than GTA3, it felt too much like the same game and couldn't hold my attention for long.

GTA:VC
After clocking it I played it heaps because the vehical data was so easy change. (you just have to change the street bikes top speed to 350+ so that it is like 2D GTA's bike, Suicidal but really fun)

I can't wait to see what they are doing for GTA4. I just hope they can keep it fresh and not the same old shit.

Yeah, I agree. SA was the same crap in a different setting.

I hope GTA4 is original, yet still stays true to it's predecessors.

I'd agree that VC is the best, hands down. It fixed all the problems of 3 without actually causing more. Sure you still couldn't swim or climb, but it's not like anything new was broken. VC had the best story line and the best characters. Tommy is priceless, Lawyer Ken Rosenberg is his perfect sidekick and counterpoint -the whole world is vibrant and perfect and not so over-the-top that, as someone who was around for most of the 80s that it doesn't break your suspension of disbelief, it just makes you smile.

SA broke the camera, had a crappy resolution (So here I am a lowly thug from a shit neighborhood, and by the end of the game I own several businesses, have interests in a rapper and a casino, hold many private properties, AND I'M STILL A THUG IN THE SAME SHIT NEIGHBORHOOD.) and added too many "Stats" to develop and keep track of and balance and .... ERgh! SA is still fun and it fixed a lot of stuff, but it also added problems. I hope VC stories comes to PC -LC stories has made it to the PS2 and from there they make the leap to PC.

I liked Vice City the best. It had much more character than GTA3, and enough improvements that it didn't feel like I was just playing the same game with a different map. I think San Andreas is actually the best one in the series as far as gameplay goes, and the story feels much more complete and involving, but by the time it came out I was so burned out on GTA3 and VC that I just couldn't enjoy it as much as the others.

needless to say, vice city. The setting, all that crap, blah blah blah what everyone else said about it. It is all awesome, especially the soundtrack. My 2 favorite parts from that game were destroying a unfinished building with RC helicopters, and fending off everyone inside your mansion. Scarface anyone? Some of my friends say that VC might as well be a huge spoof of scarface.

Of course, there are some things in SA that are just priceless.... like beating a prostitute to death with a huge dildo, while wearing a gimp suit, or burning a field of marijuana before the cops arive, as you slowly get high from the burning plants.
