YouTube channels similar to MrBtongue's

I like MrBtongue's channel on YouTube. Yes I do. NMA made news of a Fallout-related video of his called The Shandification of Fallout a couple years ago and I subscribed to it as a result.

My question is this: do you know of any other channels on YouTube which are similar? By this I mean looking at games, RPG's, movies and whatnot and taking them apart in much the same (and I hesitate to use the word) intellectual kind of way? Too many are bombastic, grating and don't have the same critical level-headedness and depth of thought.

It might amuse you to know that it took me a few attempts to spell "intellectual" properly.

Thanks.:look:

I can also recommend the above two.

Apart from that, I really like Super Bunnyhop. He does a little bit of everything. Reviews of recent games, reviews of old games, commentary on current events, interviews with developers etc etc

Also, this guy is pretty good and a lot like MrBtongue, even in the fact that he never updates (unfortunately): https://www.youtube.com/user/TheAllosaurusRex/videos

Great stuff, thanks for posting. I shall check these out when I've got a moment. Which is not now. Aside from the time taken to post this, obs.

I can also recommend Smudboy for his plot analysises, although they have a high sperg level. Then there's the now inactive Instig8iveJournalism, VaatiVidya for souls games, Egoraptors' Sequelitis, the long inactive ShamusYoung (though his website's continued), Noah Antwiler for at least his ultima series, GammyGoose's half life series, and lastly the also inactive but supreme lord of youtube gaming comedy, Fitzthistlewits.

Bit late to the party, but I just have to mention Lorerunner/Archengeia. Very in-depth analyses/reviews of games and other things within geek culture, as well as D&D sessions, video game roleplays, etc. I also second smudboy, Noah Caldwell-Gervais, and Every Frame a Painting. Channel Criswell is a channel similar to Every Frame a Painting, and I recommend it too.

Akratus: Ah, so that explains why I see your comments on his vids. XD

MathewMatosis is one of the most effective game critics, in my opinion.

I absolutely detest Bioshock Infinite.

It has scattershot narrative focus, cheap and badly-written attempts to manipulate your emotions, dumbed-down and broken gameplay, bullet sponge enemies, mentally exhausting pacing and completely nonsensical plot. It's not a game I actually enjoy playing. I'm moving from point A to point B simply to get it over with.

Adjusting the difficulty setting in Infinite was madness, because you were just setting yourself up for a tedious grind where you weren't actually being challenged, just clicking more on every enemy. And none of your choices really had any consequences. All your guns and powers are equally sterile and boring, but you upgraded them anyway because why would you want more grind.

Even taking cover was pointless. There's no incentive to "win" because that doesn't simplify your life. They'd just spawn 10 more bullet sponges surrounding you from every location. And for every one of those that you kill, two more spawn in other quarters of the map so that it never makes any difference what direction you're facing. So it makes no matter if you played well at all. It's just a battle of attrition where you click on things over-and-over.

Look at Half-Life 2's pacing and deliberate pacing and then look at Infinite. Half-Life 2 gave you puzzle sections and quiet moments to let you decompress and didn't frustrate you with the shooty bits. It didn't punish you and pretended to be difficulty. Infinite is the perfect example of what you should not do in a shooter.

And plot-twist: She's your daughter.
You're invested now? Right? Right?! You care about this now!
Here, click on more things! Here's this transparently scripted sequence where your daughter pulls a clip of ammo out her ass and tosses it to you.
FEEL THAT RAPPORT.

The hype surrounding it made it the Fallout 4 of its day. An utterly shitty game that people loved and which the press adored.
