Also hasn't BF already said he's had interest from Publishers since the kickstarter and has turned them down? So any publisher-style investment - cash for influence - I hope he'd decline.
Well, that's cool. But if this donation turns out to be real, I hope the backer doesn't get undue influence if he ends up funding 50% of the game, heh.
Cool. The Little Bobby thing has me a little anxious, though - correct me if I'm wrong, but killing the kid was one of the things that maybe made people go 'woah' in the original Wasteland. The fact that you had this choice, the fact you might end up killing him...
... to say in Wasteland 2...
Yeah, I kind of agree. It's a kickass piece of art, but is it a kickass piece of art for Wasteland? To quote neogaf:
'I hope the final game has more of the throwback bright 80's punk fashion and color of the original, if the game ends up just being brownscale it'll be a missed opportunity. '...
Er, I think it's a valid question. There are many great things in oldschool games like Wasteland that have since been lost. But there have been many advances as well that I definitely would miss were they not included. Interface and UIs, for instance. So I see this 'old-school revival' as making...
Or you can rearrange the sentence and see how it works:
'Brian knows I' vs 'Brian knows me' - clearly the latter is correct (assuming the sentence means Brian knows Wasteland better than Brian knows me)....
Or 'I know Wasteland' vs 'Me know Wasteland' - clearly the former is correct...
That's the downside for me, as I think I may have been anticipating MCA's RPG more than Wasteland 2. There may be a way around it, with collaborative working, but, yeah... MCA on Wasteland 2 at the expense of MCA's own kickstarted RPG - I actually think I'd prefer to keep him free for his own...
This is like, the best possible news.
The only thing is - I want MCA's own kickstarted RPG too, the spiritual successor to PS:T. Hopefully this doesn't mean he won't be able to do that until after Wasteland 2 is finished - I hope they'll be able to do two kickstarted products at the same time?
On the one hand, this would be awesome. But on the other, if MCA committed to Wasteland 2, that would probably mean Obsidian's kickstarter project wouldn't appear until after MCA/Obsidian had finished with Brian's project. Unless somehow together inXile and Obsidian end up producing two...
Yep, I'm back in with this project now. Go Brian, let's hit $2m!
I think he should publicise this interview in a project update, as I'm sure a lot of people would pledge more if they read it - particularly re: the social elements issue.
... and as for me, I don't like the idea of other player's messages popping up in my game at all. I like the idea of sending items to each other even less - that sort of thing has to be taken into account with the game balance, in both cases (if players are leaving messages, it may take the...
