Bethesda: Save the Single Player games

I don't get this whole idea of saving the single players. It's like all of sudden every single video game done in these past 10 years are now gone from existence and you have to only rely upon video games that are published on the current year. You can still play old games no trouble and they can be amusing/fun to play even now.

Which is fine but it is an atrocious sequel and is a stain on the series' otherwise solid continuity.

Except for all the retcons in 2 like, say, the entirety of the Vault system and Enclave.
And Tactics.
And Brotherhood of Steel.

Naw I like that one. I don't like the new colossus. It's friggen 3 hrs long ffs.

It has a major flaw in the fact you lose if you kill Hitler.

For me, it's the fact MAJOR well-beloved franchises have been destroyed by this.

So, yes, it's a concern.

And Bethesda sucks in many respects but it's SP record is pretty damn good.

What are these MAJOR franchises? I can only think about Nintendo's games and those had some neat single player games, or then I think about Ubisoft games, which are garbage. I never have touched into Bethesda's games with my money since Skyrim and the only legit thing I can think is that Metal Gear Solid is going to have survival zombie game.

Dead Space
Halo
Battlefront I and the single player Star Wars game they ran
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Lots of games ruined by multiplayer taking away from the game.

Neither of those are retcons because they don't directly contradict anything put forth in the original. Besides in the fallout trilogy 2 is the one with the most to hold against it anyway.

Don't know much about tactics but BOS is contradictions: the game. We do not speak of it.

It states the Vaults are experiments which is a pretty big change.

It's why I remain the lone voice of Bethesda fandom on these forums. I remember the hidden things which humanity strove to forget.

FO:BOS doesn't have many lore contradictions at all. It is just a horrible game. Also FO:BOS and FT are spin-offs, not sequels/prequels.

I think from my dim memory that in addition to the whole treatment of the BOS as superheroes, they have one of the main characters being the big asshole BOS from the first game despite the fact he'd be dead or an old man as a major character.

Mind you, I think I have less issue with F3 because I consider Bethesda's take on it to be an alternate universe/soft reboot.

It's a big reveal but it doesn't directly contradict anything in the original game. This ain't hard. As a writer you should be able to understand basic stuff like what is and isn't a retcon.

There are only two Fallout games, Fallout and Fallout 2. None of the rest is a Fallout game, no matter what their title say. From game-play to graphics they are totally different games, and basically other people's takes on the ideas presented in the original games. And I highly doubt that anyone who actually played Fallout back in 97/98 could possibly favor 3 or 4 (or FNV) over the previous two. 3 is basically Oblivion with guns. FNV is a total conversion mod for 3, which tries the bring back the "feel" of the original games... and fails. 4 is not even "Skyrim with guns".

Fallout NV is more fallout than fallout 2 in my eyes. By far. And it's certainly a worthy sequel despite gameplay changes. At this point you're just being bitter without cause.

Don't be ridiculous. FNV is a shooter with RT combat and other than a few cameo NPCs it's a totally unrelated story. Why would it be "more Fallout" than Fallout 2, which uses the exact same 2D engine with improvements, and is a continuation of the original story.

It's not a sequel to anything. It's a FO3 mod, or expansion, if you please, nothing more.

Revealing Abraham Lincoln was secretly a Cylon Spy would be a retcon even if it didn't contradict anything (because there's nothing that says he wasn't until that point).

Just saying.

Except it isn't that and nowhere in game or irl does anyone imply that.

Except for the plot being a retelling of Fallout 1 and 2 and the whole produced by a whole different company thing.

Fallout 2 you see is...sometimes....silly.

:)

Scientologists, constant pop culture references, Sentient Deathclaws, Kung Fu battles with Lo Pan, Dan Quayle, and a giant robot Super Mutant Final Boss.

Because like Fallout 2 it builds upon the world using factions old and new and putting them in new situations. Fallout is so much more than just how it plays. It is so far from "totally unrelated".

Also calling NV a shooter is ridiculous. The game never forces you into a corridor ala fo3/4 and a passive/diplomatic play through is entirely doable. It's much more rpg than FPS.
Definitely sillier than Fallout, yes, and I hate that, pretty sure I'm not alone. Bethesda however turns "silly" into "stupid".
Much of the silly shit in 2 was every bit as dumb as the shit bethesda pulls. The only difference is that fallout 2 also has positives going for it

Well now you're just being an idiot. It's a game based on the original design documents of van Buren. Yes it may use bethesda's shit engine and due to time constraints and bizarre demands it may not be everything they had intended but it is an amazing sequel because it build on the world in unique and interesting ways.

Except no. Retcon literally means retroactive continuity. It's an explained contradiction. If there is no contradiction then it's simply a reveal.

That's just called being creatively bankrupt and/or not giving a shit (and believe me they obviously give no fuck beyond the monetary aspect). It's set after 1/2 supposedly in the same universe.
