Deathclaw hunting tips

It would probably help to use Plasma, too. The way Mama D likes to close distance, laser's range advantage is only going to matter for one, two turns tops. If focusing plasma fire on the eyes doesn't do it, it's probably best to just come back with better armor or a higher level.

For the record, you never have to worry about starting a topic if you have an appropriate reason to. That's what the gameplay sections are there for, after all, and vbulletin's search function can leave a lot to be desired in cases like this.

Used lasers and traditional guns from a perch on any Deathclaw infestation. I prefer the Gauss for Deathclaw hunting energy weapons.

Pinkolik was talking specifically about Fallout 1, so the options are a bit more limited there. In general though, anytime you say "gauss" I'm already on board with whatever you're planning.

My favorite method for Deathclaw problem solving is still and always going to be Implant GRX and the judicious application of a war club, Blood Nap, or a superheated saturnite fist, though.

I thank everyone for their help. I beat it. And I have finished FO1 already:smile: I enjoyed that game although I have a feeling that I haven't done everything that I could and maybe I missed some side quests (though in my pipboy there were no uncompleted quests) but in a final video. Necropolis died, Followers of apocalypse died and The Hub died too. So I think something went wrong.
P.S. I'm sorry for saying off topic.

Necropolis dies if you don't fix the water pump and all three die if you take too long to destroy the mutants

I fixed the water pump I didn't know I took so long to destroy mutants I though when I destroyed Military Base I got rid of a mutant threat once and for all.

Apparently Master still had a huge mutants army, enough to invade some parts of the wasteland. That would be logical, since there are still mutants in F2 and NV

For hunting the beasts in most of the places in NV, getting a good ranged weapon and a perch would be best. in Deadwind Cavern, I have no clue, bring Med-X, Slasher, and Battle brew.

Is there any specific tactic to defeat her?

Prayer, ammunition, and may all the gods be with you.

I hate the mother deathclaw, but at least, it's the proper experience of a death claw - it delivers death!

I usually take her out w combat shotgun, and I have seriously been down to a miraculous almost dead status, no more stims and no more ammo, and actually killing her. A single fight spread out on 5-6 save slots. I almost cried in the end.

Slasher, Turbo, steady and you wash it down with some Mentats and Rushing Water, you pick up your Anti Meteriel Rifle or Gauss Rifle and attack them from the Khan Camp.

Yeah, in NV I see no other possibility than going for great heights. I was never a fan of using drugs tactically, so I dunno the effect of that, but as for the quarry deathclaws, I'm like a bird on a perch the whole time, they never even get near me. Anti-Materiel rifle and AP ammo, just to be safe!

You might think Snipe Campingis cheap, but the Mother Deathclaw and the Alpha Male have 5 times as much health as the strongest regular deathclaw, and the regular Deathclaws in the Quarry I think have double the amount of Health of a Regular one of their specific type.

Hm, me? I just confirmed that I won't even set foot in the quarry, I'll snipe all of them - also the ones in the surrounding area, around the quarry. All of them get the sniping treatment. They are in fact the only enemies I snipe.

The ones in that wind-something cave, take out with heroic ammounts of LMG armor piercing ammo, and it takes me several attempts, but I can usually dispose of them one by one, by shooting heroically.

The final location, on the other side of the colorado, I find that group very difficult to deal with. So much so, I have yet to actually dispose of them in an honest manner...

Oh, and there's the blind ones by the train station, those are fairly easy to deal with

Nah just a general sentiment ,some people might think Snipe camping is cheap, but those creatures deserve it.

For all my multiple runs of New Vegas I have never killed the Legendary Deathclaw, I got inside the Wind Cave by accident once and since them I have avoided that place like a motherfucker. Even the Deathclaw Promotory, that place is just a deathtrap.

It is cheap, but it is the only viable way to beat those devils as far as I know.

There's an auto-grenade launcher in there, and if you're super-duper lucky - you can shoot several grenades into the corner where the legendary male resides, and get some critical damage on him - of course, with luck. Once he storms out, give him everything you got with the LMG, while taking his claws right to your helpless face

Then reload previous save, and try again, and again... :D

One of the reasons I stay as far from that place as possible is that there is so many deathclaws, and no room to move. So much death.
