Where did you get that M60? The Armory?

Book of Earache. It rocks so damn hard it's not even funny. Soooooo many good guns. I figured Duke needs some better guns than what the base game has to offer.

I guess he's supposed to beat the shit out of the "Kings" on Freeside, since there can be only one King

Time to kick ass and chew bubble gum!

Imagine a mod where the aliens from Duke Nukem 3D were added to Fallout: NV. That'd be awesome!

Hint Hint, modders...

Jesus some of those models are just... ugh. Are those godawful models in the same mod that's giving everyone L96 sniper rifles? Why does everyone have sniper rifles meant for operating in an arctic fucking environment?

Because the original models were nothing less than the absolute pinnacle of 3d modeling, right?

My only complaint is your choice on HUD color, torontobro. Of all the colors that could possibly represent the sheer testicular fortitude emanating from Duke Nukem's metallic yarbols, why did you go with Estrogenal Baby Blue?

(unless you chose it because it's the color of the topaz ring in tokyo decadence, which would grant you the title of creator of the most obscure reference to a fallout reference within a fallout reference of a japanese erotic film reference of all time)

Well, I will admit some of them don't look as good as others, but with any pack that adds over 50 or so weapons, you will get some that aren't as good as the others. Notice that you are also seeing them in a low resolution pic too. They look much better in game. Book of Earache adds all of those guns, and is widely considered the best weapon mod pack for New Vegas. Sure Millennia offers a lot of better quality guns, but you have to download them all individually which cramps up your load order. Each gun has optical attachments like tactical lights or scopes, and many have selective fire, so you can go from burst, to semi, to full. This mod isn't available on Nexus, so I'm not sure what you are talking about. I don't believe there is a L96 in it. The only really ugly models I've seen are the Benelli which is up there. They are a bit too clean for Vegas, but this isn't a lore friendly playthrough. Which ones are you talking about specifically by chance?

Not only does Book of Earache add weapons, it also adds a cool bullet swarm effect in which all of your casings stay on screen after firing, so if you are using a minigun, you will have a shitload of brass laying around after firing. Neat stuff. Plus I haven't seen a M60 anywhere else. I may be wrong though. This mod did replace some of the old weapons, but I can always remove it when I go back to my old style of playing, lore friendly and all that.

Farmerk is right. The original models look twice as bad as any of those I have. I just compared them actually to see what the fuck you are talking about. Sorry buddy. Almost all of them are much better. The old ones are ugly as hell. Oh and I used blue because I always use it. I'll change it after these pics are all uploaded...may take two more iterations of this though.

You can clearly tell which one is from the old game below. Sure it looks beat up like it should, but does Duke Nukem use beat up, old ass guns? Fuck no. Wait until I break out the souped up Desert Eagle with engravings later on. Man it's perfect. Only thing wrong is there is no Devastator, although there is shrink ray, but you can't stomp the bad guys. :(

DUKE NUKEM: LOST IN NEW VEGAS

As Duke walks in he hears moans and shuffling of footsteps coming from the far side of the cavern. Then he catches a glimpse of what looks like a Zombie or Ghoul of some kind.

Duke runs up to get a closer look when one jumps out, attempting to hit him in the face. Duke was prepared for it though, he unloaded on the ghoul with his Assault Rifle. It slumps to the floor without a sound.

Then four more come into view. They are dangerously close this time, so Duke backtreads a bit, but he ends up in a corner with no way out.

The ghoulish creeps move ever closer as Duke fumbles with the magazine, smacks it into place, then attempts to pull the trigger. JAM! Duke quickly taps the forward assist, fiddles with the rifle some more, then finally unloads on the quickly advancing mob of Ghouls. After a few seconds, all of them appear to be dead, so he examines his immediate surroundings.

One cavern area to the left seems to be glowing with a green hue. He ventures in to see what he can find, if anything.

More Ghouls come out of hiding, shuffling his way, so he switches to one of his rifle's with a night sight, takes aim, and blows both of them away.

He does the same to the other two that came out after hearing the gunshots.

Duke moves closer inside after taking out the Ghouls, when he begins to feel very ill. A slight headache is coming on along with nausea. Must be from all these damn barrels, he thinks to himself. That's when he notices a radiation suit near an old ammo can. He runs over and puts it on before his symptoms get any worse.

Damn..this is gonna fuck up my hair.

Duke heads back the way he came and finds another passage leading to the Primm Sewers. He walks through the door right into a huge battle between a bunch of Ghouls and Powder Gangers. Many of the humans are being chased upstairs by the Ghouls. A few of them stay at the bottom tearing each other apart. Duke puts on a Stealth Boy and takes out a few himself.

After the dust settles Duke runs through the hole in the wall, leading up to another part of the sewers. It appears to be quiet with many dead bodies everywhere, both Ghoul and human. Duke is still suffering from radiation poisoning despite him wearing a rad suit. He only has one Rad-Away, but he takes it anyway to alleviate the effects. His rad levels aren't increasing anymore at this time, so he removes the suit.

Duke guns down one remaining Powder Ganger then hears a ton of Ghouls wandering down the passageway leading further into the sewer.

He slowly sneaks forward to see how many there are when one walks up the steps to greet him. It is glowing bright white with two ugly heads on it's shoulders. Duke blows it away easy enough, advances forward, then meets more resistance.

All sorts of different looking Ghouls are coming out of the rooms in the hallway. Duke unloads with the M60 with everything it's got. The narrow confines of the hallway makes it all to easy. The M60 rips their asses apart with a few rounds to spare.

Duke marvels at how many bullets he just spent on the freaks.

Then he notices that he is still sucking in a lot of radiation, so he quickly runs to the exit shaft leading up into Primm. He hopes to find someone in town who can heal him, otherwise he will have to sneak back into Goodsprings without alerting Sunny.

To be continued...

Next time: More Powder Gangers, Deputy Beagle is a bitch, and the Radscorpion Queen chases Duke all the way to Mojave Outpost.

After installing all my mods again and starting up my game i had the urge to make the same run as you.. Except a nerdy weak Duke! Basicly the opposit of how he is  Giving him some nerdy glasses and hiding behind a companion!

Duke does not approve.

Aernovalis's Weapon Retexture Project is the best. And he's the same guy who textures the guns Millenia has been releasing. And they're sufficiently rad and kickass that it's all I really need, since they (mostly) fit the lore very well. They also, in my mind, turn doc mitchell into the raddest gun collector in the world.

The Armory (also not on the nexus) has a M60, but it's not so mucha gun mod as it is a collection of guns texture/models/sounds from various guns, so the quality varies hugely and generally is hugely unfriendly to the lore, and guns generally never really 'fit' how they should look like for being in the fallout world. Much like several of the guns in this pack.

Also was that a snork in a previous update? Are you using Marts Monster Mod?

Also that M60 is actually very nice. From the other guns you've used it's probably the best gun in the pack,

I am aware of all of those mods. I'm not a big fan of retextures personally. I've used the regular guns so many times, they just get boring after your 100th or so playthrough. I don't like how Doc Mitchel has more guns than the Gun Runners either lol. I believe you may be talking about the Feral Merc that I killed. If not, probably a Gecko variant or one of the ghoul sub-types. Yes I am using Monster Mod version 10. Book of Earache has it's downsides, but I just couldn't download the Armory for some reason. I couldn't be sure of the quality since I couldn't find any pics, not to mention it was mainly a hodgepodge of several other weapon packs. I'm willing to bet some BoE weapons are in there. BoE adds a suite in Luck 38 filled with a ton of chicks, which is one reason I decided to do a Duke playthrough. Figured he would love that.

I don't care much about lore on this profile though. Duke Nukem is about as lore unfriendly as it comes, along with the guns he normally uses. So many people praise BoE over the Armory, at least from what I see. The weapons just have so many funcitons, plus it uses Caliber X, which is great. Not to mention BoE adds a lot of stuff to AWOP. I'll show you some of the better weapons later on when I get to them. There are a shitload of really good weapons. Thump Thump's replacer comes to mind. EVE gives me enough energy based stuff to play with too. I also like how BoE replaces the DLC weapons as well. Gives me plenty of stuff to do along the way.

I'm working on the next update right now. Peace out. :)

The armory isn't supposed to be a weapon pack. It was intended to be a collection of imported gun packs so mod makers could grab and take as they please, and only has a set of levelled lists and the cabinet cause 'why the fuck not.' The guys who make it post in FNV on SA (as do some other modding dudes, it's a rad thread).

MMM (atleast the current versions) is a mess IMO, similar to what AWOP has become, killed by feature creep. Rather than break apart features or amounts, it's an all or nothing kind of thing, which means that MMM can let horrible end game monsters spawn while you're on the way to Mojave Outpost.

I realise a LP staring Duke isn't exactly going to be lore friendly, it's just a thing that stands out to me and bugs me in certain cases. I don't mind various guns of all sorts, especially if they're guns I like (XM177E2? FAL? G3? G11? Yes yes yes yes), but I'm never a fan of the crazy tacticlol rifles that make it in, especially if they're clean as the day were they made.

The one thing game really needs is the psychotic amount of milsurp you'll only find in something like JA2 1.13 or 7.62.

Also for the love god, please put the updates proper in the spoiler tags. Makes navigating the LP much, much easier.

And I do enjoy the LP, I just enjoy talking about mods and shit more sometimes.

I downloaded a Level List patch for the Monster Mod, that also excludes certain creatures (like werewolves) from appearing at all, while also keeping low level zones free from Mutant Gekos with one hit kill axes.

There is another mod that removes several things from MMM(walpknut just mentioned it), but I didn't feel the need for it. Frankly I don't mind high level enemies spawning either. The game gets to a point where nothing is challenging after awhile. I've never had real issues with MMM, it actually makes the game more fun to play. I get sick of seeing the same old shit I've seen for the past two years. Yeah I'll use the spoiler tags. I was going to do that anyway, but it slipped my mind.
I understand what you are saying about the guns being too clean and out of place, but once again, doesn't bug me much with this LP. I wouldn't say that AWOP has feature creep either. All it does is add new areas to explore, and a few quests. Feature creep is apparent in NVinteriors, which I also use though. That term is generally used when a mod adds shit it shouldn't. AWOP only added quests, modified weapons, and tons of areas. Exactly what it always planned on doing. Personally, I tweaked it with a mod I called AWOP Tweaks so that certain things are modified to make it much better and a little more lore friendly. I removed hundreds of typos, changed character names, altered NPC stats and inventory, the works. The only thing "feature creep like" with AWOP was the changes to the Powder Gangers, which I removed in my mod.

The fact that you like FAL, G3, XM177E2, and the like doesn't mean those are any better than the guns I use. Those guns are just as lore unfriendly as the others. I guess that's just your preference though huh? I tend to like the tactical rifles in BoE because it plays much differently than before. I am so fucking tired of the vanilla game, and most of the weapon mods on Nexus. They never add anything original. Even Millenia is guilty of this. How many M4's or AR-15's do you need to add? Tons of crap little pistols that all basically look the same. Loads of boring ass shotguns with boring ass mods. The taclights with BoE actually WORK! I went through a few dungeons without even using the pipboy light. Project Nevada adds a bunch of decent guns too. I'm pretty burnt out on Nexus atm honestly. The mod scene has died down a lot recently. There are hardly any decent weapon packs, most of the armors are for females, and the few decent mods you can find are buried under piles of bullshit.

Btw, as I go along and get more weapons, I think you will be much more pleased with what I find. On my other Duke run, I have a lot of really unique weapons that you just can't find anywhere else. Bullet rain makes BoE so much better than any other mod of it's type. I love how you can get in a massive firefight and see hundreds of shells on the ground afterwards. I will be changing things up a bit in the next update, so hopefully it get's better for you.
