I'm not sure if you're serious. Flare is one-time use. Why traders should buy a lit flare that will burn out after a while? Geiger counter and Stealth boy are not one-time use. In vanilla game, you can sell a motion sensor with half of the charges, but not Geiger counter or Stealth boy. The bug fix was to address this inconsistency.

Not only can I not sell them, but even the offers are never good enough if I put the used flares among the things I want to sell. This is not a joke, it's really a mistake in the game.

That's how the game prevents traders from buying things they shouldn't. You can't put lit flares on barter table and hope traders would accept your offer.

I used to do it earlier if I remember correctly (not Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.3.3). So if I offer 100 beers and used flares, and the dealer offers one beer, my offer is not good enough. :)
 
Maybe I do not remember well, but it's not logical that someone will not accept 100 beers for one beer because of their use flares.
It is game logic. The system accepts all or nothing trades, and the NPC is made to refuse any trade that is not equal—or in their favor; and they refuse trades of items with active timers.

Try to sell dynamite or other explosives, and they will accept them for an even trade... but they will not accept them at all if the timer is active.

The game's logic would not survive in reality. :)
 
Hello guys,

This seems like a pretty decent place to ask questions, especially that the more i read the more confused I got with some issues.

I want to get the full FALLOUT experience, meaning FALLOUT 1&2 (i will probably post a similar question in the F1 thread). Something came up in my journey to have that in the past (2 computers broke down, save files lost, no will to start again and so on, various reasons), but even if now i have less free time than in the past i want to invest them into this, because these games are one of the best ever created in the history of computer gaming.

So...for a full FALLOUT 2 experience, I read that beside the Restoration Project i have to install the latest version of Sfall (4 if i remember correctly). Is that accurate?
Also, I live in eastern Europe, and I got all my games off steam until now. I read that steam censored the games for...a lot of people actually (wouldn't mind buying that off GOG if they offer something more). However, I read on this forum that the restoration project removes all censored content (kids, replacing various skill photo descriptions related to drugs, replacing the word drug with the word chem, gore, bad language and so on). Is that accurate as well?

The same questions would go for FALLOUT 1 and FIXIT regarding censorship and what i have to install extra for it to run smoothly.

I do run Windows 10, so that has to be taken into account as well, because i understood that there were some issues here too.

Yes, but you shouldn't overwrite RP's ddraw.ini with the default one from sfall.

Not 100% accurate. RP didn't restore censored Vault boy images.

I guess that there is no mod for those censored vault boy images.

Here's what I did not copy and yet I can not sell the Geiger counter. Did I do something wrong or I can not sell the Geiger counter because this position was taken before putting the patch? Or did I misunderstand that this error was corrected?

I copied from sfall_4.0.3 everything except ddraw.dll and ddraw.ini and now I can not play Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.3.3. Is this the twilight zone ?!

The only file you shouldn't overwrite is ddraw.ini. I have no idea why you don't copy ddraw.dll.
I misunderstood you, so I did not copy it. And when I tried to copy it, it was reported to me that ddraw.dl already exists. When I did this, ddraw.dl did not work. When I first deleted and the other ddraw.dl (from sfall_4.0.3) left, the game worked. But I still can not sell the used Geiger counter.

I don't know what you really did to your game, as I can sell used (and even still active) Geiger counter normally in RP 2.3.3 with sfall 4.x:

Not sure if other people updated their sfall to 4.x also have the same issue.
