Fallout 3 Cosplay

Ugh, while I disagree wholeheartedly about which armor looked better, cosplay is something I can really get behind. I did a FO cosplay for my Halloween party last year and I'm doing it again this year (I don't have the skills to make power armor however).

If you want to do the advanced mark II just wait until New Vegas comes out, I'm pretty sure they brought that one back.

... sadly (for me) you are right

See the clipping, on the armor (and what is with the gun?) I really feel New Vegas is just Bethesda's official mod on Fallout 3 (which is their official mod on Oblivion) ah... whatever no more talk about that. Subject closed (me bad mouthing that is)

I will not wait for it to come out to start (but by the time I start it'll be out) I am going to eventually do both the T-51b and Advanced Power Armor MK.II in really good quality, but the question is which first. Right now I'm leaning to the APA MK.II as it is a fresh build for me.

My previous point that you have to agree with, is that if I want to build a "accurate" Power Armor suit I have to nit-pick the armor (be it from FO1, 2, 3, or one of the others) otherwise it is not "accurate".

Also the goal of this is quite a bit above cosplay, as it will be a metal construction, [hopefully] support it's own weight, have some motorized/ mechanized parts that in some way assist in its movement, and be basically indestructible (bullets/ explosions not withstanding)

What did you do last year, and what are you planning for this year? it sounds pretty cool (you have pics?)

Mechanized parts? That is going to be a tough one :D
Well, good luck building a suit out of metal. I think the helmet is going to be toughest part for that one, you might think about using some kind of plastic for it.
A metal armor might sound extremely cumbersome, but considering medieval full plate armors it might actually work.
You got the right tools to work with metal?
What metal do you consider using? Aluminium is light but costly, but steel is going to be a bitch to work with unless you have the right tools...

Yeah, I'll PM you. I went with wasteland survivor. Kind of a rushed costume, didn't make a pip boy or anything.

OK, back to the original topic on this thread...

Oh god, oh god, oh god, I can't look... my EYES, they're BURNING, my Eyes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All I can say is THAT SUIT SUX!!!

I have to build my suit, go to the same convention this guy is at; and duke it out to see which is truly better. (I'm guessing me, as I am borderline OCD when it comes to making things functional and accurate, especially when given time and plenty of motivation. Which I have :D ) hmmm... that suit versus a (partially) powered metal suit of T-51b??? I wonder... BTW I think I'll start with the T-51b as no one seems to know a damn about PA, and it is the original PA after-all.

Wow, that is freaking awesome. Also that is the T-45d, not the T-51b.

I know his is T-45d, but mine will be ( I decided now) T-51b.

I'm working on the basics for the frame of my suit right now. does anyone have some links to a good "mechanical leg" design? I'm just testing out ideas with random k'nex pieces lying around (fess up, you have some too) and then seeing how they'd work by putting them into Autocad and 3ds Max.

Dude its clearly just for the "luzl". But you could always make your own, no ?
Yes, I know that, I can't help but be critical of it. Well I am making my own... I am asking for help from you guys on the forums because you are all the most critical of everyone (especially concerning classic fallout lore and tech)

Therefore the more you help me, the better I can make it. I'l need help with the framework of the suit, the actual design of the suit (no FO3 design, only something close to FO1&2 and to some extent Van Buren Tech Demo; not sure what is truly accurate for me to do) and some help on the building of it (I'm thinking about casting some of the parts instead of shaping metal by hand, but I've never done it before so advice/ tutorials for that kind of thing would be really good)

I would ask to try to post replies about me building T-51b at this thread http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=821012#821012 or read that thread from time to time as I'll update that one more often. In fact I updated it just a bit ago with some of the progress I made (still only planning, but you might be interested)
