Fallout: The Frontier - Released!

It's still transparent as to WHY Bethesda did this, but the point remains that it makes sense.
It doesn't. Reminder that BoS fought the Super Mutants in Fallout 1 to protect themselves and possible technology, and not to protect the wasteland. Their reason to protect the wasteland in Fallout 3 makes no sense given that the East Coast BoS comes from the West Coast, the same BoS that fought only to protect themselves in basically the same situation.

The only reason Bethesda made them want to protect the wasteland was to make them into paladins of good, completely contradicting their origins and their motives.

I could buy BoS going rogue wanting to protect the wasteland, but the reasoning here is thin and very weak.

Oh yeah I have no doubt the frontier writers would completely axe it to pieces but my point was moreso that the NCR in Vegas really isn't very progressive. Explicitly it's going through its first right wing/corporatist administration and NV itself made some political commentary with NCR in the first place.

But also as you say, as with NCR as a whole its a blended canvas of American history - much like Bitter Springs is both Wounded Knee and My Lai, Kimball is both Bush and Ulysses S. Grant.
Again, this is what Twitter, Reddit and Discord freaks consider progressive. They think that having women, gay and trans people serve in the army or be given positions of power is progressive. It isn't. If a faction still practice such things as slavery, crucifixion, eugenics, authoritarianism, ect, then they aren't progressive. They instead just opened the door for more people to engage in their governments evil. The writers for the Frontier are not smart.

I just read the rest of this. Yeah, it is thin. It's also suuuuuper shallow. But you said it yourself that you could buy the idea of it. My point was that it makes sense on PAPER and it is explained away. The problem isn't that it doesn't make sense. The problem is that it has no consequence and is a thinly veiled marketing ploy.

I'd advise giving Jogre's big thesis on the Brotherhood a read, I think they offer a very interesting point on the Brotherhood's ideology and how the F3 portrayal isn't poor in base conception but is just utter trash in execution.

yeah new vegas makes a big deal that allot of ncr's issues is the fact that every president after tandi was incompetent.

the ncr in new vegas can be seen as progressive due to the fact they allow ghouls into their ranks and most of the major people are female.

I'd argue the most hilariously bad content was actually in the NCR route, the least fetishized one. It had the space station, press F to pay respects and a rape victim who said something about knowing the true meaning of horror and she could use that to inflict that upon her enemies, accidently implying she'd rape them.
God, those were all so bad that they were good. The NCR campaign was like a funny bad movie. I would put it on par with The Room or Samurai Cop. I was howling with laughter watching Four Decent Friends play through the NCR route. The others were just boring, creepy and insulting.

Hell, the Game Guide describes the transition from Tandi's presidency to the current situation in terms of mass Reagan style privatisation.

The development of the NCR route is funny af too. Like the fact that Tiberius Rancor's actor insisted that he play a bad guy and that said bad guy never took off his sunglasses. That's just amazing.

Ray Chase took them all for a ride. They were so star struck to have a big name professional voice actor like him doing a role for their mod that they were willing to give into any kind of demand that he would have and he took full advantage of that. Fucking alpha chad.

That is pretty much what basically happened when the Founding Fathers passed away. America become more imperialist and expansionists. A far cry from what the likes of Washington, Adams, Franklin and Paine wanted. Then again this is pretty much a what happened to all of the major world powers in the world. They start out as having a very idealistic philosophy with some strong leaders. Eventually that nation ends up expanding due to growth which leads to them becoming imperialistic. The old guard that founded the nation pass away which leads to weak leaders who have a different philosophy in mind coming into power. The NCR is no different.

They should've just got the guy who narrates all those shitposts in Duke Nukem's voice. Eh he was probably too powerful.

Jefferson, arguably the single most important Founding Father aside from Washington, was the one who signed off on the Louisiana Purchase, and going back all of the founders quite clearly saw the future of the nation in exapnding to the west. Heck, one of the most important reasons for the Revolution was that the King had proscrib ed white settlement in many regions east of the Mississippi to protect the Indians.

But this is semantics, on the whole the trajectory of the NCR is very clearly a mirror of the USA.

Yep, their rise is a mirror of that of America. Which is why the likes of Caesar and House tell the player that the NCR is doomed to the same failings as pre-war America and it would just be history repeating itself with the NCR. I would say that in the timeline of New Vegas that the NCR is more or less in the same camp as America was during the Oregon Trail days. People are moving out East now instead of West, the Republic is looking to expand in order to support their growing population, the NCR is starting to get into conflicts with tribes out East over land. Pretty much a mirror of America during the days of the Oregon Trail.

Hello, Hello, Anybody Home? Think NMA, Think! They say War, War Never Changes for a reason. The NCR are shown to be the first Nation State to crawl out of the ashes on American soil so far and up until they ran into Caesar's Legion the only things they have been running into are city states and tribals. Hell the BOS for all their technological might are essentially a group of terrorists. They have limited resources and can hold no ground. the real question is, is the NCR going to be giving checks to the Great Khans in a 100 years? Because you know history has a tendency to repeat itself.

They did. And then axed the quest he was in (Unsafe Harbour).

Alphons, if I recall it correctly, they axed it because of "quality concerns". Video about it was uploaded in this thread, wasn't it?

I was just kidding, I mean I'm not surprised that they fumbled up voice shit TK Mantis made a video about them being incompetent. That raises a hell of a lotta questions.

THAT JUST RAISES FURTHER QUESTIONS.

fake edit; my b, should've read the thread more throughly.
