General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Even though I've said that I'll resume Dragon Age 2, but is the game worth it?
We'll I don't know and I don't care, because I've been playing Castle Crashers and Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance on Xbox One.
I already have beaten Castle Crashers, but there's so much to unlock like weapons, animal orbs, and characters.
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance has been released before on the PS2, Xbox, Gameboy Advance, and the Gamecube.
Now it's released on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and the Switch.
I'm already on Act II of III as a Dwarven Fighter and I already love the game, though this kind of gameplay is not the first I've seen. I first played Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel and then The Bard's Tale (2004), It's funny because Tony Jay appeared in all three games that featured the same gameplay perspective.
But this is the first game that utilizes the Dark Alliance engine, as for Fallout: BoS, The Bard's Tale (2004), and other games that came out after BG: Dark Alliance.
So which one of you have ever played Castle Crashers and Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance?

No. It's a rushed sequel that betrays the originals design influences for a shitty action game. I think it could have been the best DA if given the proper dev time and tried improving the gameplay instead of reworking the combat entirely.

I like the race redesigns and the smaller focus on one city, but The templar/mage conflict felt ridiculous with the Qunari arc being far more interesting and should have taken over as the main story.

I haven't been far into the game still, but what do you think about Castle Crashers and BG: Dark Alliance?

Reached a complete road block with Sulyvhan and the Dancer of the Boreal Valley, I think my build is just fucked for these two. The only thing I can think to do right now is to farm for a Deep Gem and infuse some long sword or something.

1 or 2?

I want to try the first game again but I can't get over how badly I would miss the turn-based mechanic from the second game, I don't have the micromanagement skills needed for real time with pause.

So many RPGs that I refuse to try because of RTWP. My position is unreasonable but I don't care, I can't stand it.

RTWP sucks. Just slap it on easy mode and don't worry about it. It's a singleplayer game and it's a RPG, who cares about how "good" you are at smashing space bar every two seconds?

I wouldn't even play it on Easy Mode. Combat starts in those games and my eyes just glaze over with disinterest. It feels like I'm playing a borked system they haven't patched to be turn based yet.

RTWP or Turn-based are both fun to me. I'm playing POE1 on Hard/Expert, so far it's not too hard. Not really digging how the stash lets you pick up every piece of loot with no restrictions, it just flushes you with cash. The intro is unnecessary and dull. The dialogue seems to get off on being as bloated as possible. You're rushed into a story that you don't know much about and sometimes the controls feel unresponsive (having to click buttons multiple times for it to register). I dig the atmosphere, combat, and the companions.

I'm running a standard Paladin in BG (spent 20mins to get a good roll).

In POE1 I'm running a Paladin of the Goldpact Knights (mercenary Paladins), does good damage and both use two-handed swords currently.

I've been playing Shin Megami Tensei IV, and all I can say so far, it's better than Pokemon X/Y.
I am interested in playing the SMT games since they seem to address my issues with Persona.

If there is one thing I hate in games is when units that I am supposed to control act on their own, be it in RTWP settings or in Turn based games that either default to auto pilot unless you tell them not to do it (DQ11) or just don't give you any choice (Which is why Persona 3 is absolute garbage).

Conversely I don't like controlling the entire party in RPGs. I feel it heavily dilutes from my connection to my character, and my own PC feels more like a stock placeholder character compared to these other PCs with custom art, full voice acting and fully fleshed out plots. The only real interaction being in dialogue makes it feel like I'm playing a XCOM ish game where I get to say stuff occasionally rather than something like Fallout where I'm in the shoes of my avatar on a journey. I don't get to control the moves on the turn of my party in an actual RPG, I shouldn't in a video game one either.

I am ok with the option being there for people who prefer it, but I hate when it is the default and requires you to navigate a menu to find out if you can change it, or worse yet, when you can't at all.
