General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Is a remaster of Life is Strange even necessary? The games look fine, the visual style actually made good use of the simplistic textures very well so what's the point of slapping new textures on games that aren't even that old? Also funny they are only remastering the first one (and the awful before the storm prequel) and seemingly ignoring the second game.

The originals had really cringy dialogue but were kinda fun adventure games. This new one might solve some of the cringe that came from french people trying to write hip dialogue for american teenagers and also being less french in their heavy handed conveyance of themes.

I just want another Remember Me game.

The environments were nice, the music was good and I really liked both the first boss and it's character. Really wanted to know more about him. The memory remixes were also great. Similar to the digital investigation parts of Cyberpunk, but better imo. More tightly done and they were a great surprise as I did not expect it.

Favorite fight in the game.

That style of investigation got really popular for a while, the last 2 Batman games and Detroit copied it, so did CBP but badly. I never played it, it's kinda cheap on steam.

You could beat it in under 20 hours I think. They're not that interactive, but the environments are very nice and it also has it's own concept art special features which I loved. Gameplay could have been smoother, but it's kinda old school with nice animations. The story was memorable. :smug: It even had some actually good parts in it. Just disappointing that my favorite character had such little time. It's kinda cheesy at times, but I really liked that about it.

Nintendo has been dropping trailers for really cool shit the past few days while the big presentations have just been Logos with narrations. Their Direct is on the 15th right? Hope some of the big games that were announced back in 2019 get some more details.

Looks like BotW2 could be better than the first one. I'll also pick up the Monkey Ball collection as I only played the 2006 game and loved it back then. Monster Hunter could be interesting, but I might skip it in favor of SMT5. The game looks neat and the music was cool. They have reused a lot from P5, but I haven't played jrpg in awhile and have the time now. Nothing more on Splatoon, sadly.

So Now that they don't have to connect the User interface with the WiiU tablet they have done away with the magic Ipad and now Link has a cool Magitek Arm.

Nearly 50 hours into Dragon Quest 11 and i have been enjoying it a lot. There's something so satisfying about its simplicity, no pointless bullshit that a lot of the time weigh a game down. It knows what it wants to do, and does everything to accomplish it.

Makes me long for a mainline Final Fantasy game that uses any variant of turn based combat (traditional, ATB, Conditional, any one). Instead of whatever the fuck they have been doing since 12.

What is your preferred party line up + build? Erik is a beast with Swords despite the game emphazising his usage of knives.

For now Hero with greatsword, Rab with heavy wands, Jade with spears, and Hendrik with axes. Jade is absolutely ridiculous with spears, give her a Oomphle and lower the enemy's defense, and Multithrust will deal insane damage.

I'm in Act 2, so i'm unlocking the extra grids. Might try other party setups to see the results. I had Veronica instead of Rab for the Oomphle though, but i haven't gotten to Arboria yet.

Well currently i'm going through ME: Trilogy again haven't played it since i was 14-15. so 7-8 years later. figured that's a good enough time to play something again given i'm a little burnt out on Fallout franchise.

the weird thing is i remember being a little younger when i was playing mass effect 3 on ps3. but maybe i'm wrong on the dates because ME1 and ME3 both came out in 2012 on PS3 for me so it's impossible for me to have played ME1 since that was on 360 mostly and i played ME2 almost immediately after I played ME3. so maybe i was 14-15 or it was close to my birthday and that's what i remember being younger then high school. as i was just beginning to enter high school. strange memory for me...

About 5 hours into Blaster Master Zero and I'm having a swell time. I appreciate the weapon system where if you don't get hit you are rewarded with powerful weaponry. It provides a greater incentive to not take damage that is interesting.

10/12 eggs are in the graphics basket. The other 2 are in animations. The story is standard in a bad way with it's fair share of cheesy/cringey moment and the main character reminds me of a fat girl that lived on my street when I was a kid.
Finally someone that doesn't lay praise at this games feet.

My girlfriend likes it. I dropped it after seeing the to do list of collecting a bunch of random drops and because I didn't enjoy the combat.

I mean, Skyrim is superior in every fucking way. More perks, more weapons, dynamic character that you can kinda role play with, less boring environment, and interesting wacky characters.

HZD has dogshit map design with pastoral rolling hills that remind me of Scooby Doo cartoons. The weapons are certainly limited in usefulness.

I never use the Tripcaster unless quest suggested or demanded it. Why use it when you can craft cheap dirt arrows and grab the slow mo perk as the FIRST PERK IN THE GAME. Literal ON DEMAND slow mo ability! I hope the PS4 plebs enjoy their crutch.

The female protagonist is supposedly the best part about this game. In my humble opinion she is portrayed as a dumb, physically strong, saucy, yet charitable individual completely lacking in any common sense. She reminds me of the big ball anime weeaboo cunts I used to know at my school.

Role play is almost nonexistent. You get to choose 3 or 4 (?) cringy dialogues every once in a while. The game even tells you the result of each statement with little symbols (heart for compassion ect). It is the most dumbed down dialogue system since Fallout 4.

This game was made simply to throw 1980s feminist agenda in our faces. I am all for reasonably headstrong female protagonists. But Aloy's portrayal was nothing short of insulting to women. This is coming from a guy by the ways.

Yeah, not really Gonzales finest work. Just to demonstrate just how old school I am: My first game written by Gonzalez wasn't NV, but a ps2 game called Alter Echo that I begged my parents for cause the box art looked cool:

I was about 7 when I played it.
