Here's the best list I can come up with from memory of what we've used so far, though our arsenal is not limited to these. All guns are real, and in firing condition, unless otherwise noted.
Firearms used off camera for sound effects:
-Bushmaster AR 15
-Benelli 12 Gauge sporter Semi automatic shotgun
-My customized Ruger Blackhawk .357, for Gray's revolver's sounds
It's my pet gun smithing project.
Firearms used on camera as props:
-M4 carbine (airsoft replica, one of the all steel ones)
-Glock 29 subcompact 10mm (airsoft)
-Bushmaster AR 15
-Colt 1851 .44 Army Cap and Ball Revolver
-Mauser 98 -or- Mosin Negant M44 *
-Beretta 9mm 1934 (disabled)
-Original DWM American Eagle 9mm Luger (disabled)
-Ithica Gun Co. 12 gauge double (disabled, barrels cut @ 18")
-Gray's Revolver, a non-firing prop I designed and built
-Misc. Plastic, Metal, and Wooden non-firing prop guns
* I haven't decided which gun to use. It will be in a scene where a sniper is shooting at Gray from about 100 yards away. Gray defeats the sniper by trying to shoot back with his pistol, missing the sniper but injuring the enemy with shrapnel the shot from the pistol blows the scope off the rifle (as was proven to be possible but non-lethal by Mythbusters...heh, nerd moment). I'll take votes from ya'll: first gun to five votes is the winner... and no, you can't vote five times, Vlad.
Okay, so updates:
The editing process has been going well: we've got about half of what we've shot re-edited. That being said, we've still only got half of the movie, considering that we lost two scenes in the big hard drive crash.
The first of those two is the scene with Marcus, the doctor, screen shots from which can be found on the earlier pages of this thread. Unfortunately, Patric, the actor playing Marcus, these days spends all his time running a small business, working for MIT, and living 30 miles away. However I've spoken with him and as soon as the caravan scene is squared away I'll schedule a weekend shoot and hopefully get that scene done before I move back to school in late August. The big reason we haven't shot the caravan scene yet is because our actor is being very difficult to set shooting dates with. I basically told him today that when I get back from a brief trip to my upstate NY home , I intend on scheduling a shoot for the movie. If he can't do it, I'm calling my backup guy, who is probably in the long run the better choice anyway. So, either way, we'll get one scene at least shot within the next few weeks...I hope :/
The second of the lost scenes has been replaced with a gunfight scene. I'm hoping to keep the caravan scene short, with minimal dialog without losing plot info, so that it can be followed up soon after with the gunfight to throw a little more action into the movie: the original draft of the script ended up being too reliant on dialog, and a movie that was supposed to be an action movie didn't have much action in it til the last ten minutes of the film.
If the schedule goes well enough, and we get those two once lost scenes done, I'll finally be organized enough to shoot the gunfight and some of the ending fight scene while I'm at school. I'm also hoping to land a location for the outside portions of the ending fight scene before the summer is out.
So basically, if we're really lucky, I'll have this movie finally done just in time for you all to watch it right before you go out to buy Fallout 3.
This has been getting pretty hard to do. The forced slow pace of this production has made it increasingly stressful and discouraging. There have been moments where I have almost wanted to scrap it, but my love for the characters, and my dedication to this story has always won out. But I have to thank you all again for your continued support: if I didn't have anyone cheering me on, I doubt I would have made it this far, and the support of my friends, even those I only know through this thread, ensures that someday you'll all see this movie. Whether you like it or not is the only question.
EDIT: crap internet connection resulted in this last update being posted five or six times. Hooray for deleting extra posts.
