Nuka world one step backwards one step forwards ?

Yeah I must admited as a modder myself i don't actually like level system as they such. They can make it quicker to make and enimeys quicker to place (You don't have to set them to a default level) However it does't actually take much time to set different level creatures. Literally just make one for everylevl and specai lhave more base HP and you're done. You can place them where you want and alter the level at anytime. But yeah i dunno maybe that a too old fashion way to think about it

So basically the remnants of the pre-war government decided to take a set of their newest power armour, the most advanced ever made and is so costly to make they can't outfit every Enclave soldier with it, take it all away across the ocean and across the US. Using valuable resources, time and manpower to find a rundown theme park in the middle of nowhere, plant said power armour inside it somewhere after painting it blue and then leaving it for some ice box jackass to find.

The Enclave is many things but they aren't that fucking stupid.

I have a hilarious bit of fanfiction in my head that a bunch of Enclave soldiers were sent to Nukaworld to steal the secrets of Project: Cobalt (which, I remind you, is military contracts that Nuka Cola turned into soft-drinks rather than the reverse) only to have a childlike wonder at the theme park. They laughed, they played, and experienced humanity for the first time in their lives of being raised as child soldiers for John Henry Eden. During their time there, a Crococlaw killed one for their numbers.

Lisa was her name.

Lisa, as she died, said she'd never been happier in her short time and to bury her beside Nuka Cola's factory. Her teammates restored her armor, locked it away, and painted it with the Nuka Cola symbol.

:)

Which is complete bullshit but I would have loved that as a story.

I find the criticism of taking down the electrified magnetic energy shield power armor with a squirt gun like criticism 60s Batman.

The developers are AWARE its silly as hell.

The characters COMMENT its silly as hell.

It's SUPPOSED to be funny.

And it is.

This is why Raiders shouldn't play with complicated pieces of Pre-War technology.
I'm glad people like you exist. It's makes me realize my life isn't all that bad.

I love all Fallout games and DLC except Dead Man's Hand and the Workshops. Fallout 4 was kind of boring in places but I still played the shit out of it. I do wonder if I've slipped into an alternate universe, though, because criticizing Bethesda for making Fallout silly is bullshit and I wonder if fans remember all the Monty Python jokes, Elvis Prints, the creatures from Aliens, and a brain dead Dan Qualye in Fallout 2.

Oh right, we're supposed to forget Fallout is a humorous schockey B-movie setting. :)

That was tongue in cheek. There's a difference between that and having a squirt gun boss fight that plays out in a serious manner. Also "Dead Man's Hand" was an amazing short story about a harsh life lesson and redemption.

Until you prove otherwise, you're Petey Hines.

In what universe does it play out in a serious manner?

Dead Man's Hand's story was fine, the gameplay was awful and frustrating from start to finish. Father Elijah was a decent enough villain but teeth-gnashingly banal in his evil. Fallout is a game which thrives on colorful villains and he was just a murderer and a torturer.

I preferred Lonesome Road even if it suffered from all of Avelone's attempts to be deep and comment on Fallout's idealogical problems despite all of those problems existing primarily in Avelone's head.

Colourful villains? Like Colter, the guy you meet and kill with a fucking squirt gun with no dialogue whatsoever? You can side with Father Elijah you fucking infidel, granted it's non canon and not permanent. He has his reasons for doing what he does- he believes the wars over the Mojave are pointless and that humanity should let go of the old world and begin again. It's poetic given the location and history behind the Sierra Madre. Maybe if Obsidian weren't limited by a shitty engine your issues with gameplay could've been solved.

Yes, you kill an electric magnetic Super-Armor raider gun with a squirt gun. It's awesome and makes fun of all those stupid bosses who are utterly invincible and have super-gimmicks. If I could mod it in, I'd have Frank Horrigan be able to killed by giving him an explosive teddy bear for his birthday. Basically, I get enough Super-Bosses in my games and enjoy it when they're treated like chumps.

As for Father Elijah, I didn't say he wasn't justified or realistic, I'm saying he's BORING. Give me a giant Roboscorpion any day of the week.

This is a prime example of irony. You actually enjoy the silly stuff they...

I'm lost for words. Petey you've given me so much new material.

Again, Fallout is a silly B-movie game series. It has Space Marines as a major faction.

Of course, I'm going to blow your mind when I say that the only time nuclear war was ever treated with any pathos was Fallout 3.

:)

Wow. That right there just blew my mind. I've only just realized Fallout 3 is the best game ion the series because you told me! How silly of me to think it was shit when all along it was the only game to ever treat the war seriously. Humanity moving on? Bah! A town living off of 200 year old scraps is super realistic, and all the green- oh how I now love the green!

Thank you for your insightful post. You're a blessing to this forum.

You're welcome. :)

On a more serious note, Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 do have one specific difference in design philosophy beyond the differences in genres (tactical RPG vs. shooter) and that is the focus on the Pre-War world. F1&2 are focused on the Pre-War world only in the loosest most abstract sense. The new society and how it's developing is the real stars. NCR, The City of Bones, The Master, and tribals are the big deals of the setting. Humanity has moved past the Pre-War Nazi-esque American government and the only time they show up is as a minor bunch of self-deluded tribals who are basically an evil Brotherhood of Steel.

Fallout 3, by contrast, is massively focused on the Pre-War world and what was lost. There's still skeletons everywhere, serving as a living testimonal to the dead. Humanity hasn't really progressed at all but is scavenging (which humanity had already mostly moved past in Fallout 1) in the ruins of a better greater civilization. Virtually all of the villains and their motivations are linked to something in the past as well.

As bad as the Pre-War world was, the new games actively mourn it and the lives lost constantly. History has not moved on.
