Russia attacks Ukraine

I just want to say if it hasn't been said yet, keep in mind there are two massive hurdles to getting accurate information on ANY war - those being fog of war and propaganda.

Both the Russian AND the Ukrainian propaganda machines are working in full overdrive right now, so just be careful with what you choose to believe (doubly so if it comes from social media, like Twitter) because the amount of fabricated stories or repurposed articles that were stolen and changed can make it very easy for you, I, or anyone else to get burnt. Misinformation levels are through the fucking roof, to the point where even the media can't accurately verify if a plane or armored vehicle that was reported shot down/destroyed was real or if it's video footage from a combat simulator game with some distortion and grain effects thrown on it and then pushed out as "news".

That and of course, fog of war exists.... even in the digital age - we still just don't fully know what's going on. The only people who know what's truly happening right now are those on the ground. All in all... be careful what you choose to believe, from either side. And yes - Russia did a bad, but blind sympathy is also a slippery slope. Much like an onion this situation has layers and layers of political issues surrounding it that go back over two decades, so while it's easy to side with one country or the other it's important to understand that just like the Gaza strip, this is a complicated situation where there's a lot more to issue than meets the eye.

Other than that ... that's pretty much my only input. Just be careful what news stories and media you choose to consume, especially if it's directly from the mouth of one of the countries participating.

All I am operating on is that Putin is and has been a relic. He saved the Russian people from the oligarchs and stopped the Chechen insurgency kudos to him. However, that does not justify years of continued rule which could be perceived as kind of unproductive. After the glory faded, he had nothing else so he began the road to the dark side instead of giving up power and letting someone else get a chance to lead.

I was saying this for YEARS that Putin is aggressive. He has to be because he has no other recent achievements to justify his continued inept rule. This is a major problem in authoritarian governments. At least in the west, we have a changing of leaders. You get fresh blood, new perspectives be it good or bad. We have a division of powers. Russia and China do not and the inevitable result is stagnation.

It's not NATO as Putin created the Russian version, the CSTO. Russia did not somehow keep itself from expanding, NATO did. Without NATO, you can bet your money that more ex Soviet satellites would have been pressured to join the CSTO

Why? It doesn't matter either way. It's all bullshit. Whether one of these guys falls for the prop or does not is irrelevant since we are all powerless internet shitposters.

I mean look, I'm as nihilistic as it gets and if we're going to go down that route then we should all realize that ultimately nothing any of us will ever do in our lives is going to ever matter on any level or account for shit in the grand scheme of things. The most any of us will amount to is ground fertilizer.

That being said, the amount of people following each other right off the misinformation cliff has astounded me, a bunch of people are walking into this doe-eyed and believing every single headline grabbing article and foreign ministry-pushed propaganda shit piece that gets dangled in front of their noses - so I feel like it's a fair warning to let them know that 95% of it is either fabricated, misconstrued or flat out bullshit, because when it comes down to it at the end of the day BOTH sides have a game to play.

If they still continue to blindly follow the trail after that then... well that's on them.

I am more stoic actually. While the world being hit by an asteroid would be a nice way to end things I also don't care if it happens one way or the other.

You are both angsty teenagers. "Stoic" "nihilistic", how about faggots.
I'm 37 in July. I went through that whole nihilistic phase now I take life as it comes. You can believe that or not. It doesn't mean I don't hate people or want them to die but I don't think that is my outlook on life. It's a shitty Eurofag outlook. When I say "I hope an asteroid hits the Earth" I say that not because I think everything should end, but I think everyone crossing over to the "Whatever/Darkness" all at once would be enlightening and it will happen one day anyway when we all die out so why wait?

This sounds just like nihilism.
No because I don't want it to happen. It's just a thought of mine that something like that might make people appreciate life more. If a tsunami a couple hundred feet tall approached New York City I doubt BLACK LIVES would be the primary concern for a long time. Then maybe just LIFE would matter. Still Pro Choice though. Heartbeat is not a sign of actual consciousness.

Wanting it to happen is misanthropy, not nihilism.

I also agreed with that view for a long time to where it nearly made me a raving lunatic. I turned it off and now only the lingering wish for global catastrophe pops up into my mind from time to time when the lady at the checkout aisle is a bitch. The pills help.

Man, or when there is a long queue to the checkout aisle, that's when I understand terrorists that blow themselves up.

Stuff like that I can handle. It's rude people that bother me. I think about that shit for days afterward. I guess it's why the government pays me.

I had a Twitter account indefinitely suspended about 2 years ago. I had altered that pic of Trump outside a church holding a bible. I had him holding Mein Kampf. Also I mocked old etonians so I was suspended for sarcasm. No racism. No homophobia or the like. I made a new account the 3rd of this month (March) and was shocked to see a hash tag killputin. The tweets were unreal total mass hysteria. Britains media is 100% pro Ukraine. The subtle propaganda flows like a drunkards piss. Some people are under the illusion the likes of the BBC is unbiased and gives an objective view. That is completely untrue. On domestic affairs BBC churns out what oit is told and only covers events it is told to show. As you say ALL governments use a level of propaganda , Britain's is as strong as anywhere else.

In Britain if you bother to use your 'democratic vote' for Tory Party A,B or C. Nothing really changes that much. Lots of the laws are already on the statute books. If a leader say Blair wanted to he could have changed Thatcher's ANTI TRADE UNION laws. He decided not to as Blair as well as the new Labour leader Starmer(knight of the bath) do not represent the working class. The other party Lib-Dems in 2019 election wanted to cancel the Brexit vote(for) altogether. (thats liberals for you) So what i mean is the word ' DEMOCRACY ' is often lifted to some kind of divine state, when in essence its bullshitting the electorate Corbyn who was socialist with a small s was removed through his own party traitors a massive media storm which tagged him with anti-semetic which is again total BS, Corbyn was like an old school CND campaigner hated by the elites. Trump also said " He will take you to a dark place " So again state apparatus can deny the people of a decent man

Even if you don't believe that your vote matters, it doesn't change the fact our leaders change. Our politicians fear the media. We have a division of powers. Russia and China do not.

Richard Nixon, arguably the most powerful man in the world at that time, gave up power peacefully. You wouldn't get that in a non western country that's for sure.

Government systems unlike the west to be precise. Governments with no division of powers. No free speech and freedom of press. No ability to get rid of leaders. Yes, N. Korea qualifies.
