Stupid fallout experiences...

Stupid thing that happend to me, that haunts me to this day, occured in a battle with a radscorpian. After wandering around the map, I encounterd a radscorpian. Although this was early in the game, it should have been no problem, the fact i had no stimpaks, almost no ammo, and Ian having been killed in a fight with some raiders, made me and my leather jacket wearing 41 hp self nervous. By this point I was still relativly new to fallout (Having just got it) and not saving for hours on end.

So the Radscorp and myself engaged in combat, Myself wasting all my ammo from my SMG in an ill fated burst. My unarmed skill being crap, this left little to do. As i went through my inventory, the only weapons in my possesion was TnT and a throwing knive, which i equiped in lue of nothing better to try. I clicked on the TnT and set the timer with my inv closed, and... nothing, it didnt make sence to me, should it not have done something? So i switched to the knife and made a dismal attempt to defend myself. After that failed I attempted to run, though through an aimed shot the radscorp had crippled my leg. Thinking i was doomed, I threw my knife at it, and gaming gods be praised, managed a critical hit for at the time, the magic sum of the exact ammount of hitpoints the radscorp had, suffice it to say, i was happy.

However, most of you will notice that I still had the active TnT and such low hit points i would try to use a throwing knife. So being injured i thought of going to sleep, but, junktown was but a hex away so off i was to the exit grid. My character arrived there just in time to get blown up. However i went to the world map, an merrily went to junk town, where the gaurd must have had a spectacualr view of the little chunks of my body arriving as if by magic. I never picked up tnt again.

Yeah, awesome sig, and the same happened to me in V15, but with a molerat.

Was this aimed in my general direction? If so...cool! I seem to be very good at writing sigs for some reason. One of mine even got ripped off by a member of a forum that I frequent, and used in a forum where I hadn't been until more recently.

Also: Yea, TNT....I think almost everyone has a TNT-related story about Fallout. Usually involving a low Demolitions skill and ending in one dying in tiny pieces.

A few other dumb things come to mind:

-Insulting Bishop (or whatever that a-hole's name was) in the Brotherhood HQ in FO 1.

-Punching out Citizen Lynette.... which I'm still convinced, despite any consequences to the contrary, is the right thing to do.

-Sleeping with that gangster's daughter in New Reno (forgot the family's name....) See above with regards to how I still feel about it.

-Facing off Wanamingos. Ever.

-Becoming a fluffer in New Reno.
....yea, no real excuse for that one.

-Trying to fire past one of my NPCs (usually Ian, but it happened a lot with whasername with the knives) pre-patch and having them turn on me after the enemies were gone.

Good stuff.

When i was trying to kill the guy in vault 15 in fallout 2 His dog ran in front of his flamer. I Think you all know what happens next.

Myron getting killed by the slavers in the den.

Before that woman Excilled me from vault city I Planted explosives in her inventory. The gaurds came in to kick my ass and lynette ran outside and exploded and she killed the gaurds. 8-) Then i escaped by using my flamer

Ripping the arms of curtsies teddy bear

Finding VaultBoy in tactics was awesome :D

Even though i dont like tactics

I Was doing the president quest and i had one explosive left. i managed to get cassidy some powa armor and he followed behind. I Planted the dynamite in his inventory and ran like shit. Cassidy followed too and he explodes right infront of me.

I Put the explosives in cassidys inventory -.-

Don't ask me what I did to set it off but...

Ah, my dumbest Fallout experience.

I was in Shady Sands with Ian following me close by. I got myself into an outhouse to instinctively check for any Cat's Paw magazines lying around.

All of a sudden, before I realized the threat, I got pinned between the toilet and Ian. With no option to push him around, no savegame, and having waited 3 full minutes for him to move to no avail, I had no option but to start over again.

This one happened recently. I was playing Fallout, without saving of course. I was trying to free the Brotherhood initiate from the Hub. I was travelling with Ian and Tycho.
My tactic was that I would step in the doorway and shoot the bald guy with combat shotgun. Well I did it and it all went fine until it was Ian's turn. The dumbass went straight inside and got himself blow to pieces from SMG burst. Well, at least I had Tycho left. I continued my superb tactic until the rought bald guy came out (I had finished all the SMG-guards). Then I remember that I was distracted by something and I didn't look at the screen when the bald guy came out... so I ended up looking at two hilighted bald guys both holding rifles, they were blocked by the wall so I couldn't inspect them. Since I did't have the Friend of foe -perk I couldn't know which one was Tycho. Well, I had laser rifle and fast shot perk. I shot one the bald guys.
Shit, it was Tycho. "Tycho was hit for 34". Then I shot at the real bad guy same time hoping that Tycho wouldn't turn hostile. "Oops! Tycho was hit instead of Rought Guard. Tycho was hit for 34. Tycho was killed."
D'OH! I wasn't that pissed then until I found out that my last save was at Shady Sands.

RAPED! by Ian. Yeah, I got it too at V15.

You know if you initiate dialogue with an NPC it usually resets thier wandering mechanism, making them move. I found that one out after about 15 minutes of Ian closing me into an elevator shaft.

Killing every single apprentice of Dragon in the ring and him being completely okay with it :D

i didnt save and i went straight south from arroyo the first time i played fallout. i almost got to san fran but ran into some fire gecko's and died...

Not knowing how to plant a bundle of TnT after I set the timer, messy end.

I stupid thing I do in any game is become a item hoarder. Who knows how many Scorpion tails I had in my inventory before I finally gave up and ditched them.

Here's an ongoing stupidity. FO2.

I've never seen Horrigan in the final fight pre-his-death. Combat is always initiated while I am too far off to the right to be able to scroll far enough to see anything. And, no matter how fast I try to run in, he is dead by the time I get there. One of these days I'll have to not use the turrets to my advantage, just to see him before he falls. Then again, I don't really care for the ending of FO2. I usually just play up to San Fran and then start over with some new character (LK 10, the non-combat skills trait, high IN and PE, then just try to survive the TOT).

Misteryo

Well, I never really got stuck somewhere by Ian, but I did do the mistake of giving him automatic weapons.

A rather memorable part was, one of my first plays of Fallout 2, I couldn't figure out how to get into Navaro. End result? Gather as much ammo and stimpacks as you can, and storm the damned place. Myron, Marcus and Vic got slaughtered somewhere around the first 10 turns, and I went on without them. Took me several hours I think, but I actually managed to clear them out. So, slowly walking away (turn based combat, etc) from the now empty base I walk into the desert, with almost no ammo or stimpacks left, and head back into san francisco. Half a second after I leave into the world map I run into an enclave patrol and get slaughtered like a dog.

Needless to say, I never tried to attack Navaro again. Evar.

i cleared the navarro base only using 5 stims and a super stim, all used on the lower vault section, for the ground level i just ran in shot once with the gauss rifle ran out, did that for around 2 hours and the base is clear

Hah, Gauss rifle? That's doing it the easy way. I only had a sniper rifle and a plasma rifle with me when I did that. Like I said, this was the first or second time I played Fallout 2, so how the heck was I supposed to know that power armor and energy weapons don't go well?
