The grenade launcher is a grenade launcher

With nuclear handheld guns, nuclear exploding cars and nuclear bombs all around, i think a granade machine gun insn't that big of an issue in itself. I sure hope that it will replace the Fatman, because i just couldn't bare to look at this game if that damn weapon is still there.... This also raises the question, which probably doesn't belong here, but i'm still too curious - will the damn "old rusty car explodes in a violent nuclear mushroom cloud" effect be present in F:NW?
I do agree. This one makes sense, as in it exists.

minigun - cool

rocket machine gun - fail
In Fallout 1, you had a freaking Gatling Laser. Why not an automatic grenade gun?

EDIT: It does look pretty average. Kind of like a reskin of the Heavy Incinerator.

Fallout /2/ had the Gatling Laser. Most people sort of agree that Fallout 2 went a bit off the deep end.

Minigun was pretty weak and fired 5mm ammo. Also, it's iconic, it was used in Predator and Syndicate.

An automatic grenade launcher doesn't seem to have any redeemable qualities.

Ironically Gatling laser is surpassed by Bozar in FO2. Ironic enough, 223 caliber weapon beats energy one. Same case in FO:T, in this case its 7.62 cal Vindicator that has sniper rifles range with fire power of minigun. So is Nuke Mirv absurd compared to these cases. YES, it is continuing the trend, tough there is tesla cannon, but its kind of meh.

I feel like this is a compromise weapon.

Its somewhat real, but it still satisfies the "cool" shit moniker that Beth is so proud of.

Even still, it was a funny early april fools joke... Wait...

It's real isn't it? Oh god...

Still waiting for a game where the minigun is the deadliest weapon available and not just a slightly stronger machine gun.

Good point, miniguns were always heavily underpowered in Fallout games. Well, maybe aside from Gatling and Gauss miniguns from Tactics, but that's about it.

if this abomination fits in fo universe then we can expect to see a portable M114 155 mm howitzer in our inventory too... no wait - gatling howitzer!! that would be awesome... with nuclear ammo! epic!

I guess you could always not use the Fatman.

Unfortunately thats just the typical gamer response these days. Even back in the days of doom the chaingun was the 2nd rate rapid fire weapon.

And while we're talking about Doom and gun realism. Let's talk about the BFG.

Er.

Ok, everyone knows that the fatboy personal nuke was a real weapon right? No?

It wasnt hand held but it was a single man launched nuke that a person coudl carry around. It was a very heavy rocket launcher. It was not shoulder fired as the blast back was enormous and deadly. The warhead also was so heavy that the force made it necessary to stick the end of the rocket launcher in the ground. It was almost hand held until the point of ignition. Like a bottle rocket stuck in the ground.

What would be a modernization is the presence of a 2 stage rocket and basic self guidance system. Then it could be fired from the shoulder. First stage would create lift off, then the nuke would ignite and fire hot 50 yards away and re-orient itself. this is how pricey shoulder fired rockets can be done in modern times.

But this is the design of the Fatboy. In fact, the design is SIMPLER than the fatboy, if that could be conceived. These were the Davey Crocket's of our most violent and psychotic president, President Kennedy.

Yes. Ignoring stuff. The True Solution.

No.

But yes, we all know about the small, portable warhead launcher. It gets pointed out every time the Fatman comes up. It is not even close to a valid excuse for its idiocy.
