Hi! I am completely puzzled by the number of mods, so I need help.

I'm looking for patches that fix both of the games, as well as game-improving/enhancing, etc... Any advices?

Well it's beta because it's still updated and expanded, however it is very stable and totatally playable.

Other then this you got the Megamod, should be on the first page of this forum subsection and the weapon/ammo enhancement mods

Are they compatible with killap's?

Oh, and do you know any for Fallout 1 perhaps?

pacifist,

killap is the one who made that mod atually, and you don't have to install the killaps patch because its integrated, no problem in installing it over the patch too :)

Never played before!

Alright, so that thread title will probably instill a sense of rage in some of you. I know it irritates a friend of mine who simply cannot believe I've never played Fallout 2 before.

So I thought I'd give it a go, see what I'm missing out on. Basically this thread is me asking for help on getting the game working well, with all patches, some fixes, and in windowed mode if possible. There doesn't seem to be a thread that has all thins info in one place, rather it seems spread out amongst many pages in multiple threads, and I rapidly lost track of what I was supposed to be doing.

I notice that theres a mod there by killap, the Restoration Project 1.2, that seems to have a load of fixes. So I'll be wanting that then? How about the other patches that were officially released? Do I need those as well? Where do I get them from? Or is everything rolled up into a nice neat package?

Right, windowed mode. Fallout 2 looks horrific on a widescreen monitor, so I'd be wanting to play it in a window. I see that this chap called Timestamp seems to have a decent fix for it. How do I get that working as well then, just unzip into the Fallout 2 Directory? Does it even work with the Restoration Project? What order do I apply the fixes/patches in?

Many thanks if you can help me with this. :D Maybe this thread should be deleted as the info is all here already? (Somewhere)

Anyway, cheers if you can help!

The restoration project includes sfall for windowy goodness. (Actually, you'll probably find playing fullscreen in letterbox mode is better, but you can play around with settings afterwards.) It also includes all the patches and fixes you need. Just install it, and forget about everything else for the time being.

Although since you've waited this long, you might be better off waiting for restoration project 1.3, which is hopefully due out soonish and fixes some bugs in the current 1.2.

Ah, I didn't realise that it already included it! so, just install the Restoration Project and I'm good to go? This 1.3 update....if I was to install and start playing with 1.2 now and then apply 1.3 when it comes out, what are the chances of my saved games working?

Usually when there is a new release, you have to restart from the beginning...
So enjoy playing 1.2, take experience then restart with 1.3.
Killap is the best to answer your question. ;)

Cant seem to get it working, as soon as I'm gone with the character creation screen, this movie starts up and it crashes with the error

"The instruction at 0048d9c4 referenced memory at 00000014. That memory could not be read from."

Does the same thing instantly if I try and press the load game button too. Same result each time no matter if its running in 8bit Fullscreen, Dx9 Fullscreen or Dx9 Windowed.

Any suggestions?

Well I've never used a mod with Fallout 1, nor had I patched the game (except to 1.1).

Now I'm looking of doing both, so what would be a patch you'd recommend to me? Also, what mod would you highly recommend to me? It could be regarding anything, that is gameplay, visuals etc. I don't have time to mix and match though, testing some mods and others, so one which should cause me no trouble, and is rather straightforward would be nice.

For Fallout 1 that is.

Thank you.

EDIT: Well 3 days passed and no help, I kinda don't need any help now...

Okay, so thanx to gog.com I just downloaded their Fallout 1 and 2, and decided to play them both again, starting of course with the first one.

I downloaded :

Unofficial patch 1.3.4 TeamX,
Fallout Update Mod v1.2.5 english version ,
Fallout NPC Mod v3.4 English version,
Timeslip Fallout engine tweaks 1.2,
Fallout1 High Resolution Patch 1.2.

Is that the best combination?
And is there any particular order in which I should install it?
I am running 32bit XP SP3, hopefully there won't be any problems.

And about Fallout 2 - I should just wait for Restoration Pack 1.3 and thats all - it contains sfall, unofficial...everything, right?

Thanky : ).

Thanks for info, so, Patch 1.3.4 + NPC Mod + sfall + high res mod is the way to go, right?

And sometime in the future when restoration pack for fallout 1 is completed, THAT will be the way to go : ).
