PsychoSniper: I completely understand what you mean. I had been through a few of the cities where Fallout was supposedly taken from. When I played the game, I was like "This is California...nuked? Cool!" It was one of the things that drew me into the setting. The things like the Hubologists and Father Tully were about the only real-world references to religion in Fallout CRPGs - but those were in Fallout 2 as well, which was laxer. If you looked at Fallout 1, you'd notice that the only religions that are around are cults, as the world
got fucked.

A side-tangent for those who haven't read anything else in the thread: this isn't the same world, timeline, or anything. It's an alternate universe, one that has it's own rules. Even when religion was put forth before, it was done in parody in a certain style. Not just parody for parody's sake, which is how Fo2 became a shitfest in terms of easter eggs.
After all, the Mormons shouldn't mind much fiction or parody about them, considering that as Tristanus said, they have a fondness for role-playing, just like Scientologists who believe
their own source material. Every cult enjoys such attention in secret, as they understand controversey is able to get some fools interested and hooked into it. Cult Psychology 101. And, in regards to those of other religions, it's like a bitter pie in the face to say that they didn't survive, but a parody of a Science Fiction cult and the Mormons did?
I'm sorry, but South Park already used that joke. And it was far more amusing.
On visible account and certainly evident through summary, this was just Vault City retooled for Mormons and with a few different flavors. About the only difference is that the Mormons might be better armed. Hey, there's a woman NPC! Hmm...let's broaden on the whole Vic's daughter thing, change it a bit, and go from there.
