Deleting that file fixed my problem, killap. Gonna do a fresh install now (and promise myself not to be so lazy with mods in the future), and see if it works.

On a vaguely related note, anybody know if the Miria mod(s) for RP 1.2 work with 2.0?

A new installer/manual install pack are currently being uploaded. Give me about 45 minutes and everything should be ready. This means those of you who waited should grab the new full releases. If you already downloaded it (and are not plagued by the installer issue on non English versions of Windows) then just grab the updates on the first page of this thread. I shall post an update when the full releases are ready for download.

I have english windows, but my regional settings are set to lithuanian, and i had the same error installing, but everything seems to work just fine. Should i reinstall it?

Since I never ran into the error that was reported, I cannot tell you for certain. Darek seemed it have indicated that he ran into the problem but all was well in the end. The only way to be sure is to see if Cassidy's combat settings reset and/or the new npcs at the EPA don't level up. If it isn't too much trouble, I'd say grab the soon to be released new installer and reinstall. I don't think you need to worry about it though. Be sure to at least grab the updates from the first page of this thread.

New full releases are up. Only grab this if you haven't downloaded yet or you were plagued by the installer issues (non English Windows versions/regional settings) and are uncertain that all went well during installing.

Another error/bug (maybe not?) comes up. When I die I can hear narrator saying his text but the screen is just plane white (no image of dead body wearing vault 13 suit).

I would also like to know if not being able to walk too far is fixable. This is pain in the ass on high resolutions since I cannot move from top of the screen to the bottom in one click but rather have to move several smaller distances. Especially if while moving I click too far Chosen One just stops walking.

Will do that. My suggestion would be that you name the new file F2_Restoration_Project_2.0.2b.exe (and all upcoming files in the same way), to avoid confusion, with several files existing somewhere, which have the same filename, but different contents.

Oh, I fully agree. However, I keep the same file names ONLY because I KNOW there are dozens of direct links to it and people will grab the old file by accident. I realize it leaves room for confusion, but that is why the rock at the start of the game (by Klint) will tell you the true version number.

I personally don't know. This sounds like a familiar issue though. Perhaps someone can help with this.

Not that I know of. It comes at the cost of running at really high resolutions. That is why I don't recommend running at greater than 1024x768

@everyone
I'm taking a break for a few days - Easter, etc. Post reports in the wiki for proper documenting - the wiki should work now, btw. Hopefully I have addressed the pressing issues that plagued the initial 2.0 release.

I have an English language Windows XP but my regional settings are set to Finland. I tested installing the new package, and it seems to work, the rock states 2.02b, and I did not see error messages about digits during installation.

The issue was actually due to the regional settings, not necessarily non-English versions of Windows, and so I recommend reinstall if you saw the error messages.

Once again, thanks for your hard work killap, and others who worked for this. Now it is time to start playing...

EDIT: Also, the master.dat file seems to have been edited, date modified is now current, and the file size is changed from the original version.

Enjoy your break, it's well deserved. Much love for your work mate.

Thhis happens to me every time when starting the game. The very first screen that says "Loading" before the movies is shown only white (or black sometimes). This happens when choosing 16bit colour in the settings. When turning back to 8bit, those screens are shown normally.

Also, on the Hi-res options screen, the spelling is wrong, it should be "colours" not "colour's" :P

I do not see first screen that says "Loading". It just instantly starts playing movies. Also I have checked and my settings are and were 8bit. Still when I die I only see a white screen with narrator voice in background.

If I reinstall it, will my save games from 2.0 release will work?

You must have a way faster computer than me, then. I see it for about a fraction of a second.
Hm, I don't know then...

I don't know for absolute certainty, but my guess would be that they will work. I believe the scripts just edit the master.dat and some protos in there.

You could try renaming your current fallout 2 installation directory to something else, and then installing fallout 2 again to that same location, and then applying the newest version of RP. Then copy your save games to that directory. That way, you can revert back easily if they don't work, by just renaming directories.

Download and extract it to your main Fallout 2 directory. Overwrite the files already there. You know it is updated if the rock at the start of the game says 2.0.2.

My version seems to be working correctly with sounds etc but <i can't seem to find that rock everyone keeps talking about... can someone upload a screenshot of the exact location

There was a crash involving missing a shot and then suddenly getting a black screen crash. Was there anything like that fixed?

This, also I can't seem to get this working with a manual install and the multiple mod guide on the fallout mods wiki. Since this is meant for a fresh install of Fallout 2, may I presume there's no way around this?

@Manu: No screenshot, but it's right behind the guy blocking your path back to the village. Only other guy besides you on the very first map. If you can't see it, you probably don't have it updated right.

my social life will suffer
thank you so much

edit: my girlfriend is going to kill killap :D
