That's the screwed up thing about our society; show the most depraved, violent and gruesome death and hardly any one bats an eyelash. Show some 1998 game rendered nudie poster tities, and there's an uproar...

I only let my bro play M rated games that I myself have played and know won't piss off the parents.

What's really laughable is that, if one carefully looks at the graphics of those in game "nudie" posters, the reality of it is, that they're barely discernible and only suggestive. They rely primarily on our previous learned experience of what "nude" posters would look like and trigger an emotional response in the, shall we say... cultured, viewer. A small child, uneducated in that aspect, would probably only recognize it as a fuzzy and not so good graphic of someone at the beach.

In other words, those who are innocent won't know what it is, and that those who see it for what it is, really don't have to worry about being tainted by it because we already are, LOL...

a little out of RP topic but

I always thought it's kinda ... stupid ... to limit nudity while blowing enemies heads and spreading their guts all around is acceptable !?
You want to block nudity but letting him see guts spreading around ?
which is more devastating ?

From my point of view, I played games before anyone thought how sadistic some of them are, enjoyed nudity in Duke Nukem and gore in Fallout and I am (more or less) normal .... it's not the games that are important but being fully aware that those are just games.
He can be smart enough to realize it himself or require parent sitting, talking, explaining to him or just playing games together.

And nudity poster? Well if he asks then it might be time to grown-up talk about kids not growing inside lettuce ...
It is better to explain world as it is rather than protect him from it as much as possible, sooner or later he will discover world himself, isn't it better to do it being prepared to avoid obvious traps than falling into one straight way ?

... not mentioning posters in F2 are so low-res I would have hard time guessing what's on it if I not know nudity first hand

Americans and their damned prudeness.
It's something I will never even begin to understand.
It's all those puritans fault no doubt.
But this is hardly the place to talk about that. :)

I like the new addition of the posters but I thought there were a bit too many of them so I have no objection to removing some of them.
killap, do keep in mind though that traditionally it's not only "deprived" places that have nude posters (and semi-nude). Gas stations, work shops, teenage boys rooms etc.

Also, you may not have to have two sets of maps, can't you just have two sets of frames instead? Nudes and no-nudes.

Would work with simple art replacement. No big deal.

But seriously... that's like 15 pixel height objects... I didn't even realized these posters in my playthrough. (I just found them when I scanned the graphics for usefulness outside of the RP.)

Yeah, that's what I had in mind. I can recommend using elevstub.frm as the replacement art. Just copy elevstub.frm and rename it to GIRLP001, GIRLP002 etc. There's 18 of them.

If it's worth the trouble that is.

On a side note, I know the game is depraved and gory, but it does not have the level of sexuality that animated prostitution for Fallout 3 does. It would be nice to see a "no nudie posters" option; my bro plays all sorts of violent video games, but if the parental units ever saw him with the posters in game, they'd have a conniption fit. Thanks.

This is pathetic…those posters are so small you can barely see anything (they were built from original 1950’s girlie posters, not some depraved 2010 butt fucking – golden shower nonsense), and if people find them offensive then for God’s sake stop playing this game…a game mind you in which you can take drugs, engage in sex with men and woman, shoot people’s faces off, and slaughter children. The next thing people will want is a version of Fallout with the swearing removed. The only place you find the girlie posters is at those locations were you would expect to find them, *The Den – the town full of scum and slavers – *Broken Hills – Caravan office and Phil’s Bar - *Gecko – Skeeter’s shop and Wooz’s bar - *Klamath – Sally’s Bathhouse (yes a brothel) - *New Reno – The Cat Paw (yes another brothel) – Porn studio – Chop Shop…etc…those locations are more than suitable.

@ Radar E 33 – you said it yourself “my bro plays all sorts of violent video games”, I object to having to edit the maps just to suit your little brothers taste, or the parental units that allow him to murder people at will every time he boots up his computer…grow up. This is a mature computer game.

Acctually, the game already comes with a built in language filter.
Not that I've ever used it, but I've seen the file that lists all the possible "bad words".

I realize this. You'll find them in depraved locations (ie New Reno, brothels), but also the more seedy of the bars and even some homes (where appropriate).

I don't think we need to discuss this further, so let's not take this thread (the bug report thread) further offtrack.

@TaapLuup
No news yet. I'm pretty swamped in RL right now.

Alright, so I decided to go ahead and play anyway, and just start over again when 2.1 comes out, so some annoying bugs I ran into before even leaving Arroyo- when I die the dying screen is like on fast forward- I see it for like half a second, no sound and then main menu. another thing is when I try to load my save from inside the game, it crashes, but when I do it from the menu it's fine. last thing, the movies seem to be up higher up on the screen, instead of in the middle of it. I'll report more bugs if I found.
Still awesome mod tho :)
Edit: andddd found another, game crashes when I give mynoc the flint and press the answer that would give me the sharpened spear.

Disable sound hardware acceleration. (Via the command line in "START" menu run dxdiag and set the sound HAL off.)

The "fast death screens" is due to your DirectX hardware acceleration. You need to go to Start>Run> and type in dxdiag. Hit enter and then go to sound 1 in the dxdiag and set acceleration to either "basic" or "none". Setting it to 'none" makes my music choppy though, so start with Basic first.

Edit: Dammit! Ninja'd!!!

And it seems that Version 2.0.e hates me. It won't let me do Sulik's sisters quest.

[spoiler:ae57ace75c]Can't even let me get the slaves to reveal the other slave camps location[/spoiler:ae57ace75c].

Flame thrower damage is still schizo. The most i seem to do is 55... :(

Sorry if this has been answered before, I tried searching a little but didn't find what I was looking for.

I had previously installed Fallout 2 with the official patches, the resolution patch, the children patch and finally the restoration patch. This was before I knew that the restoration patch included all of those. Anyways, I started playing it about a week ago but had to reformat my computer. I only backed up the save game directory in the main folder.

Then on the new windows install I reinstalled fallout 2 with just the restoration patch and it's update. Copied the savegame folder over, but when I tried to load the game, it crashes. Is it possible to fix?

Are you using the original damage calculation? (if you have not changed the DamageFormula option in the ddraw.ini then you are)

If yes then what armor is the critter wearing that you are trying torch?

This nudie poster argument is about as pointless and ten times more stupid than the debate about whether we should have the new child killer image

This has probably been asked a bazillion times before but I looked around the forums and couldn't find the answer.
Does the restoration project contain your unofficial patch or should I download it separately?
