Fallout 3 Cosplay

power armour has motors to assist movement. And a its fusion powered.
So, yes, you did miss something.

I had something of that in mind, but didn't remember really...

But as someone else wrote above, there should be nooo way to run in it... Either fast and weak, or slow and invulnerable.

By the way... Does movement in Fallout 1/2 combat actually do any difference? I mean in the way if I decide to run instead of shooting, it should be more difficult for the enemy to hit me, and vice versa if they move and I want to shoot them.

It's something I never thought about when playing the games (not even Fallout Tactics) but now when I think about it... Is it so? Because that would add some more depth into the combat system. Otherwise its still the one and only tactic that always works... Standing behind a wall/pillar and walking a hex forward and shoot the enemy and then repeat until the stupid crapper dies...

No.

Fallout 1/2 combat is really, really simple. Honestly, TB combat at its peak is indepth, tactical and intuitive. Fallout 1/2's is just intuitive.

Well, I just contacted the makers. They said they can make another one, but it'll cost $4580 + shipping! Wish I had that money to waste, but guess I'll just be making my own instead.

Nope, made out of some plastic foam. Apparently pretty expensive. A shame, wish it were cheaper. And for those of you who think it looks like crap, it could be far, FAR worse.

Power armors wasn't self designed to begin with?

Okay, as I thought then. But it wasn't the combat that made the game great so it doesn't really matter :) but a movement bonus would have lifted that part up a whole lot

Just out of curiosity though, how does a Power Armor like those of Fallout 1 fitt in a 50s retro setting? I am just interested to know if it was a idea/design completely done from the devs or based slightly on some vision people had about the future in the 50s. I mean would be nice to know as I like the idea of the PA and I think it fitts the game and all. But still I cant remember anything like such from the future-theme like for example "energy" weapons or nuclear fision and which people eventualy imagined to be part of every day life in the future at some point.

And people pretty much assumed everything would be nuclear-powered in the future, back in the 50s. That's obvious I don't even want to bother looking up an example for it.

Check up on Dan Dare, such a good example of what 50s comics thought the future would be like it has it's own exhibit in the Science Museum. :D

The T-51b armour always puts me in mind of a 50s car. The lime green (ingame sprite anyway) paint, shiny chrome coated metal and streamlined look gave it a style that is very 50s in my view.

You guys know what would be THE awesome? I mean like Michael Bay-grade-awesome: Fallout with the combat system of "Silent Storm". Great game, TB tactical combat, in 3D, with fully destructible terrain.

I prefer Jagged Alliance 2's combat system to SS2's.

For a second time I am amazed how this abomination gets such awesome fan-made replicas. First was that raygun, now this.

Part of me wishes more people did such awesome stuff with the originals. The rest of me, however, realizes the gayness of cosplay.

Some people don't want to let go of that part of their lives when they shit in their pants, yet we judge them. Some may call it 'inappropriate behavior'.

Hm. I always thought that the most obvious influences for the classic FO PA were these:

The classic Iron Man:

Klaatu:

And - you know you love him - Rocketman:

Someone should ask the devs and then write a sweet article about it.

The classic Iron Man:

This reminds me of a funny Iron Man parody in Futurama Comics.
Fry, Leela and Bender crash their rocket on a seemingly abandoned jungle world and get separated from each other.

Later its revealed that the planet is inhabited by various famous computer company icons like the Firefox and the Linux penguin as well as a tribe of computer nerds who run an interstellar version of Amazon.

Because their computers are so slow they have salvaged Bender for his parts, leaving his empty shell behind for Fry to find.
Fry finds Bender's last wish inside his empty body "Avenge me!" and sets out to take revenge on the computer nerds.

Unfortunate they outnumber him and force him into hiding in a cave, only then Fry gets the idea to wear Bender's body as an armor, taking it on in the same way as on this Iron Man comic while owls keep hooting "who" on the background.

Fry becomes "Iron Fry".
