Fallout 3 pirated, videos spread

I'm just curious, how many of you guys will actually buy Fallout 3? I'll probably give it a try first and if it's decent game I'll buy it.. but I'll always consider it a spin-off. You'd have to be a fool to think Bethesda would create a "true" Fallout game, since the original series has been dead for over 10 years and WON'T be revived no matter how much you pray. I also doubt complaining about it here will erase the dollar signs in Bethesda's eyes. Companies work to maximize profit by appealing to the broadest audience.

Overall I think Fallout 3 will be a fun "Oblivion with Guns" game in the Fallout universe.

I've rarely seen so many words used to say so little.

I'm going to be getting the game, although I've long accepted that it won't really be Fallout 3. More like, Fallout: DC.

I loved Morrowind and tolerated Oblivion, so I think that I'll get my $60 out of FO3.

I'm waiting to see what happens in the Fallout 3 modding scene. If some really amazing things come up, I might get it while it's still on the shelves. However, if nothing comes of attempts to improve Fallout 3, I'll wait until it's in the bargain-bins.

We've already got a topic in the Fallout 3 sub-forum on just this question (minus the "OMG I can't believe you're all talking about a Fallout 3 that didn't turn out like this, you're a bunch of morons for wanting it blah blah blah" stuff that *never* gets old) but, hey, I'll field it anyway:

No. I won't be buying it. I may play it. *May* play it. But I won't give Bethsoft any of my money- especially not $60 worth of it. I work plenty hard for it; too hard to use a decent chunk like that on something I probably won't like that much (since I'm really not a fan of roguelikes, and Morrowind really bored me.)

Well Oblivion disappointed me. I'm a big TES fan, arguably love the TES series slightly more than the Fallout series (Morrowind being my favourite), but Oblivion was just disappointing, from the RPG aspect. I'll see with FO3 when I get it myself.

C'mon.. if you can't see that this game is easily the best game of the year (or decade) then you're just not a gamer.

;)

Have you actualy played the crap that has spewed out for the pc this year? Oblivion would have been the Game of the year compared to most of it. So far the best games for the pc this year is the MMO wanabe The Witcher, a Dumbed down Civ clone put out by Sid Meires, and the port of Mass Effect.

I'll buy it if the game costs less than 15 Euros and there are a lot of mods that fix the issues I have with the game at this point.

The only memorable thing I"ve seen is that they used the Blackadder melody as music in one of the radio broadcasts, I think it was the Enclave one.

Heh.. you just called Colonization a dumbed down Civ clone.. kinda eliminates any argument

The Witcher was released last year.

The PC is thriving but you do have to know where to look.

Mount & Blade is a barebones indie combat simulator that beats Oblivion on amusingly many fronts. Sins of a Solar Empire has been getting a lot of buz tho' I haven't tried it yet. World of Goo should be GotY candidate and is easily one of the most fun games in recent year. There have been two successful MMO launches (Age of Conan and Warhammer Online) if that's your thing - tho' AoC got a lot of flak on the longer run and it remains to be seen how WAR holds up. I haven't tried de Blob yet but I know the Dutch uni project it stems from and it showed a lot of promise. And of course there's Spore - though I hear that's not all it promised to be.

I haven't played most of the games above, but those I have I'd probably list above Oblivion.

You forgot Clear Sky, the prequel to Stalker. It's certainly above average.

Except for the fuck-ton of bugs. People have to realize games with a huge explorable environment (Fallout 3 included) almost always include a ton of bugs.

My favourite PC game of 2008 (so far):

Sins of a Solar Empire.

Great stuff.

Revolution is not a PC game.

Sigh my bad, your both right. its Rev Im thinking of not the other way around.

As for the Witcher, I bought the updated version that came out this year.

I have not tried Sins yet, may have to order it.

And lets face it, the people who buy a Bethesda game right now for the PC are buying it for the mods.

Aint that the truth.

I went in to see how you could mod morrowind, pulled one of the room files, because I was thinking about doing a house mod, and found all kinds of crap they had left there that they had just draged off outside the "room" in literaly all directions instead of deleting it. a couple of days later I had inadvertatly invered the outdoor map and realised they had done the same their with creature spawnpoints, buildings, plants, doors, rocks and all kinds of things.
