His philosophy gave a pretty frightening dimension to his character because it actually made sense and the fact that he was, once, human makes it even worse. The master is one of the most memorable villain ever to me. This robot, on the other hand looks dumb, cheesy, unoriginal. Oh and surprise it's giant, just like the giant monsters that come at the end of Oblivion. Now, I also know that the endboss of Fallout 2 was in a giant power armor but if this abomination was inspired by it, then it's a remarkable fail.[/spoiler:7ab18aad53]

[spoiler:78e0dc41e0]Well, I didn't mean to diss the Master. He does kick ass. I still want to see the gold version before assuming stuff though. And what's wrong with giant? Super Mutants are 10 feet tall. Ants are like the size of a dog in Fallout. Radscorpians are the size of cars. And the Master himself is mounted on a Overseer chair that rises about ten feet off the air equipped with Gatling Lasers.[/spoiler:78e0dc41e0]

Yep. I was in the "Well it's the dark brotherhood guy being the lead designer, that's probably good" camp. And actually, even with all the silly story, I'd probably still have enjoyed it if the combat looked up to snuff. Unfortunately even that doesn't seem to be the case.

Still. If they release a toolset and it ends up as modded as Oblivion, it might be pretty good down the road. Maybe. Possibly. Hopefully.
 
You know, I'm starting to feel like Fallout 3 could reach the POS' level of mediocrity after all. I'm starting to look at POS from a brand new perspective now that I've seen Fallout 3 in full effect...And I'm not even exagerrating, it's really how I feel.

When I look at my Fallout 1 box, then I look at that dumb-ass robot, the first thing that comes to mind is "nightmare". The second thing is "fucktardism". The final thing is that angry itch that keeps telling me "come on, cancel the preorder. You know that this game is going to make you bitter. Go on Play.com and click on "cancel preorder".

That's a good reason.

And I have to say, MrBumble, your about-face on Fallout 3 is both frightening and illuminating. Frightening because it was so radical (granted, lots of other posters had the same thing happen... not me, but that's because I'd gone through all that "stages of grief" stuff before I posted a single thing here) and illuminating because it happened as a result of actual information (not PR spin) from which you, as a person who was in the "Wait and see" camp, took the conclusion that the game probably won't be worth your time or money. Pretty scary to see the shift.
