Fallout: New Vegas Developer Diary #6 - The Characters

I can't stand watching these streamers any more. They all skip dialog and kill everyone they come across.

Well, this shows that Bethesdas approach in Fallout 3 wasn't that bad at all, because most likely many players will not read a single line anyway, so why waste time and money on it. :smug:

Doh ho ho.

Wait, they could afford all those fucking voice actors and Bethesda couldn't?

It would be interesting see whether Obsidian or Bethesda flipped the bill and for how much. The voice actor budget must have been insane.

The whole game is being paid for by Bethesda, not by Obsidian.

I think they know it's not gonna fly anymore with people like Bioware having lots of voice actors in their games.

So how sucky is he?

The first thing he did after he left Doc Mitchell's house was shoot two big horners and use up all his ammunition. Then he swung a machete around wildly and killed the General Store owner, before proceeding to steal his ashtray.

Jesus, wht am I even watching this 'playthrough'?
Maybe it's because I have still 6 days to wait 'till I get my hands on this game and this kind of playthrough is the one with the littlest of spoilers.

And god damn does this guy play lousy! I am annoyed.

lol wow. Nearly every playthrew I've watched has been awful. Most of the time the play just runs around trying murder everything he see's and then getting owned in the process. No even bothers to do a quest or try out different dialogs, it's just PEW PEW PEW.

Did anyone recorded some of these "playthroughs"? I don't need the video, I just want to hear bit of the music. Would be cool if someone can 'ook me up.

This seemed like an OK playthrough. Rather than just randomly killing everyone, he decided to actually play evil and do evil quests. http://www.justin.tv/jerleminara/b/271951801 (Or at lleast, helping out Powder Gangers in first area, doing good stuff elsewhere... so I suppose he's sorta neutral)

A shame that at the first opportunity he sells his laser pistol without firing a shot. It would be nice if someone gave lasers a try, given that Obsidian has apparently made Energy Weapons a viable skill right from the start of the game. (You start with a laser pistol, and the infinite ammo Recharger Rifle is available in the first shop!)

I think part of the problem is that because they are streaming they know they have an audience, and they think that their audience won't want to sit and read dialogue and stuff, instead they'll just want to see action. The only way to continuously have action is to attack everything and everyone.

Watched the stream above a bit despite myself. As long as it's the beginning areas I figure I won't get too spoiled.

Anyways, starts off kinda slow I think. But Goodsprings itself looks really great, it really feels like a settlement which is nice. They really caught the atmosphere of a sleepy almost-ghosttown.

Wayne Newton is great on the radio, faaaar better than Three-dog. The iron-sights makes the guns feel much better. Mantises and Gecko's look nice. Almost don't want to fire on those little guys with that "ow my head" animation that plays when you hurt them.

Looks good overall!

Heh heh, truly a genius at work.
Has he been trying to defuse landmines yet by jumping hard up and down on them?
