How did you discover Fallout ?

I noticed the original Fallout box sitting on the shelf at the local computer store about 6 months before fallout 2 came out..

I remembered reading somthing about it in PC Gamer or some other such magazine. Opened the boxes front cover and fell in love... 6 months later fallout 2 came out and i was there the day it hit the shelves to buy it. Joined the Order not long after.

i need to look for it soon though.. any one knows a place where to obtain it?
You never played it?
How did you end up being a member of a Fallout fan site?

i heard you guys here have some good flame wars from time to time :D

but any one an opinio about where to get it?

I borrowed it from a friend, who said it sucked and had gotten it with his PC. The name sounded familiar to me, so I decided to borrow it anyway. After playing it for a while, I fell in love with it. Returned it to the friend, and bought myself a real copy when I finally found one.

Good for you, he obviously were of bad influence with the disrespecting of Fallout and all. :)

Death to the heathen! (whips out the M134(or Browning M2HB .50BMG, whichever you like)

I was browsing walmart's bargain bin and saw the cover, baught it, played it.

Needless to say it was love at first sight.

Well, here I am, finally. About 6 years too late, but hey, lol.

I'd always really liked Fallout ever since the original demo came out, which I remember getting on this compilation CD. I remeber it was a cut down version of Junktown or something. I lpayed to absolute death for ages, but for some strange reason never really got around to buying it, and I finally forgot all about it.

Then, a few weeks ago I was looking around Virgin Megastores with, luckily, a handy £20 lying about, and I saw the new Fallout Collection Box set. And, well, here I am today!

I first played it back in 1998 or 1999 through a friend of mine who had a burned verison of the original game. The burned verisons turned out not to work but i played it on his computer for awhile until i bought it. I also bought the german version from EB.

I think it was about a year before the first fallout came out there was an interview with Steve Jackson about this new game that was in development that was going to be a revolutionary rpg using his GURPS system. I think the magazine was Gen Next, I still have it at home so I'll check. This was before I had a computer. I finally got a computer in '96, a mac, then I was finally able to download the demo in '97 once we got the internet. Then in '00 I finally got a copy of fallout 1 and I still haven't played it all the way through (getting to the point with family and work that I don't have time to play as many games as I wish I could). A couple months ago I finally got a copy of fallout 2 and I still haven't played it yet. I'm going to install 1 at work tonite and play it during "lunch".

...

I just saw the game on a low budget pyramide and remebered some good ol' reviews 'bout it. End of the story.

Too bad the wimp objected to the facts of a post-apocalyptic wasteland and pulled GURPS. What, did he seriously think post-apocalyptic was holding hands while basking in a radioactive glow?

I got my first computer on '97. A friend of mine, Galileo, let me steal a warez cd of his (he didn't need warez, he could've bought all of these games) which included a warez version of F1. The warez version didn't include talking heads or videos but it was enjoyable nevertheless. I got F2 when I pestered Galileo until he decided to order the damn game.

I was at Wal-Mart and saw the Black Isle logo. I liked Baldur's Gate 2, so I picked up the double jewel case for $10. Good buy.

My friend told me about this old but very interesting game he had just bought, so I had a look. Fallout 2: A Post-Nuclear Role-Playing Game. Hmm

Soon enough I was saying "could I have a go" to the point where he would say "what about me" and "don't you have a home to go to". I couldn't find it anywhere so I bought it off him and finished the game. Where had it been all my life!

Soon I was always dreaming of world map music from 2. I loved the special system, but seriously abused it, leading to many invincible Mad Max clones with sniper Perk and the like.

Then I was given the original fallout. Although it is very gritty, realistic and truly post apocalyptic, I still prefer the complexity of 2.

Tactics was a disappointment, but did have some good points(editor and fallout, special system).

I do think that the marketing for fallout has been inadequate and it deserves to rule the world and be in every house hold and have a sequel and.....I'll calm down now.

Fallout 2 was one of those games i kept hearing about. One day saw in store for £5 and thought why the hell not. Now i have bought the fallout triple pack, was worth every penny too.
