New Vegas details

For me, the pros:
-I've liked Obsidian's other games
-the writing should be good
-"hardcore" mode will make the game better
-gecko's are back
-no BoS mentioned as of yet

cons:
-looks like shit
-VATS isn't gone
-Super Mutants don't look right
-Vault 21?

Don't see how that's a con, Vegas would be pretty close to west coast so it would have a lower numbered Vault, I'm assuming Vault 21 is the New Vegas vault seen in the trailer. And maybe the people from Vault 21 used their G.E.C.K. to bring Vegas back to life like it is now.

Also, the armor in this one looks nice.

After reading that and seeing the screenshots, I could imagine a good ol' cowboy/western soundtrack. :D I have to admit, that the desert looks good for me (atleast better than the overall look of FO3)

Well, even if it's Inon Zur fuckin' up the soundtrack again. We could always just do what was done with Fallout 3 (use the Fo1/2 music).

i don't see whats wrong with it - the modelling is as crap as Fallout 3 - it's the same what did you expect ? new models ?

Guys its really NOT the model I complain about I could care less about that. Again BLOND HAIR on a super mutant with a some pink googles just let my eyes bleed. No one can serously tell me to feel comfortable with that.

it's a nice character allready in my eyes due to the looks
it's prolly a cruel joke - how can you not get that

imagine youg miss teen gets dipped - she's so messed up that even as a mutant she tries to ... look good ... fit's 50s teen culture - think hairspray !!

Or make even new ones. ;)
If all the guys here on NMA would work together, we could have a good soundtrack in a short while. But wait for the game first. I doubt that they will fuck it up.

One of those show the Hardcore/Normal differences.

Normal
  • Healing: Healing is instant (Stimpak)
  • Combat: Combat is simple
  • Ammunition: Ammunition is unlimited (meaning the amount you can carry)
  • Dehydration: No dehydration
Hardcore
  • Healing: Healing occurs over time
  • Combat: Combat is very challenging
  • Ammunition: Ammunition has weight, limiting your supply
  • Dehydration: In the desert, you'll suffer dehydration without clean water

I hope it's not just that. :|

guys you cant be serious ....

Ah hah. Yeah, the female super mutant looks stupid, but I don't see it as a major issue. The text within the scans makes up for it.

Haha.

Honestly, I don't mind the mutie with the 80'ies goggles. I find it actually a bit funny. We don't need to doom everything which is "new". I wait 'till I see it ingame, then judge if it's ridicolous or not.

The problem with that is that Fallout is supposed to be based on the retrofuturistic fifties, not eighties.

Thing is just those screenshots should be suposed to show what they have so far and eventualy the best they have so far. if this is really one of the best things they come up with ...

I dont say the game will be bad. Just saying that this really makes me worried (and the fact that every character will be able to always have every option visible in the dialogues to choose from, and that a failure here has no negative effect ... sounds not that promising in my oppinion.)

The negative effect will be, that there is no success.
If I understood it correct, here's an example. Player A makes an super duper sniper character, with high small guns and sneak skill and high agility. Player B is more the dumbass who relys on heavy weaponry and explosives. There comes a dialog - the player needs to get item XY at a base or whatever and wants to convince some people to come with him/helping him.

Both Player open up the dialogue screen. Both players get the same sentences to choose. It says maybe "Say pal, would you help me cleaning place XY of those assholes? I have a plan, a sneaky one, they won't even know who slaughtered them!"
Now Player A will succeed in this dialogue, because of his advantage in the asked skills. Player B can also choose this option, but because of lacking skills the NPC will say "You can't even make a plan to conince me, good luck fella, get lost".

I for one find this really good.

And those screenshots.. yeah, what did you expect, as stated before? We all knew that this will be the same engine like in FO3. Of course it doesn't look pretty, but a few screenshots were good and unique imo.

That's almost right, the only thing you missed is that your choice will be worded differently too.

So a PC with high sneak skill will say: "Alright, me and you will go in from the right, there is less light there. Turn off your light and follow my lead"

PC with low sneak will say: "Uhhh, so, like, be quiet and shit, yeah?"

So depending on whether or not PC passes skill check, the dialog option phrasing will change too.

Yeah, thanks for the addition. :)
I hope now it's clear that the dialogue system isnt that dumbed down as supposed.
