what is your favorite unique weapon in Fallout New Vegas?

if yall niggas aint using That Machine your not playing NV properly

As much I love M1 Grands in games, my problem with it is the range and accuracy of it is shot to shit mostly at mid to long range I even have hard time hitting body's (and yes I have enough strengh and gun skill to use it properly) And in terms of highest dealing 308. Gun that goes to I think either cos's silenced sniper rifle or pacelina (the mexican flag hunting rifle I don't know is proper name.)

YCS (Your Console Sucks)/186 is arguably better for criticals if you're banking on sneak attacks. Dat range.

True trure, But does it microfusion cells change to the guns color like the Q-35 does? No case closed.

Please tell me you use the Q-35 Matter Modulator that thing's a beast with crit damage.
I swap between AER14 and the Q-35, its a shame plasma doesn't get as much spotlight in the perk tree as laser weapons.

Its also fun to bring out the SPRTL-WOOD-9700 if you're running set lasers for fun+laser commander.

You tried Vance's 9mm smg? That thing is a beast in terms of dps especially if you get it early on.
.

yep. Load with jhp plus grunt perk, it cut like butter enemies without DT. Fun against yaoghais in zion. Fantastic side weapon and I love the look

Edit: talking about side weapon, chance's knife + grunt + cowboy + elijahs rambling + some melee perks + rushing water = you can kill even liberty prime

As for laser weapons, fully modded laser rifle ;) is equal to cheating. Don't belive me? Try for yourself (don't use vats) and tell me the results.

Just breaking down my process of favorites here.
Lets see Favorite pistols would be:
  • A Light in Shining Darkness

  • Pew PEW
Li'l Devil wins for the pistol category.
Now for rifles:
  • Christine's CoS Silencer Rifle
  • Paciencia
  • Medicine Stick
  • YCS/186
  • Holorifle
Christine's CoS Silencer Rifle wins the rifle category.
SMG category is between the Vance 9mm and Sleepytime, Sleepytime obviously wins.

Shotgun options:
  • Dinner Bell
  • Big Boomer
  • HoloRifle (This counts as a shotgun right?)
Dinner Bell wins the shotgun category.
Heavy weapon options:
  • Sprtel-wood 9700
  • The Smitty Special
  • Tesla-Beaton Prototype
  • Mercy
  • Esther
  • Annabelle
  • Red Victory Grenade Rifle
  • K9000 Cyberdog Gun
  • CZ57 Avenger
CZ57 Avenger wins the heavy weapons Category.
Finally thrown, placed weapons:
  • Holy Frag Grenade
  • MFC Cluster
  • Fat Mine
MFC Cluster wins this round.

Now out of the chosen what do I consider my favorite...
  • Li'l Devil
  • Christine's CoS Silencer Rifle
  • Dinner Bell
  • Cz57 Avenger
  • MFC Cluster
I believe my favorite is Christine's CoS Silencer Rifle. I just find myself using it most often, compared to any of the others. Although the MFC cluster sure is a lot of fun, especially in the casinos where no one can run away since it's a hold out weapon.

You just had to go and make an essay out of it, didn't you @Einhanderc7.

And yes, I approve of Christine's COS Sniper Rifle. It's the weapon I most use and my second favorite. Combine it with Better Criticals and high Sneak and you are invincible even in close quarters if you also have the Sniper perk for better headshots in V.A.T.S. (only close quarters obviously).

@Pwener If you look at any of my post they quickly grow into long winded dissertations designed to convey as much viable information as possible.

Hell I could turn this observation into a 3 page essay easily, *Einhanderc7 begins typing an entire essay, but unfortunately it's all lost in a freak accident with a plush squid, and a can of tomato paste.*

Haha yes I kind of use that same set up with Cristine's cos sniper rifle/Dinner bell/Sleepytime.

I just got started using it in old world's blue till then I been using the Ratslayer (another good unique weapon since it has the third highest critical damage in the game?) But cristine's cos sniper rifle just been better in all categorys except its durability seems really low so repairs are often.

Is Dinner Bell really that good? I never bother to complete Red Lucy's quests until the very end of the game so I never have a chance to use it. I also don't like weapons that look so... rustic. If it's got wood on it - nah thanks. Only exception is the Holorifle.

I mean maybe compared to a fully modded Hunting Shotgun is slightly worse but Dinner Bell I loved forever since it has one of the tighest spread in the game in terms of shotguns, it also already comes with the shotgun choke add on making is spread even smaller and with the two shotgun perks (scatter gun surgin I think is called ? don't remember, all I know it makes every shotgun do 10 additonal damage threshold points, along with and stay back letting you knock down opponents) It makes shotguns even more viable in the lategame.

I've never been a big fan of shotguns no matter the game. I always lean towards a sniper/melee build in, again, no matter the game.

Indeed.

What I will never understand how anyone can play like that. I used this weapon once, I killed everyone in Cottonwood Cove and they did not even see me (even with the field full of bodies). I traveled to Red Rock Canyon and killed everyone, again without going into combat mode.

Was this supposed to be fun? Not even a completely sniper-oriented game (Sniper Elite, for example) is like this. Only those Bethesda games are like that.

I reload the save, threw the gun away without ever looking back and went to face the guys in a fair fight. And this time with this mod installed

But each with his preference.

The thing is I rarely use the unique weapons, mostly because they simply don't fit with my current build.
For sniper builds a modded Anti-Material Rifle (AMR) with the reloader perk lets a character deal out some serious damage with the match rounds.

As for the durability of the CoS rifle finding the materials and crafting repair kits is super easy. In my current game I literally have 200+ repair kits sitting in the sink.

My current build uses the modded AMR, CoS rifle, 12.7 smg, and a modded hunting revolver. Nothing, and I mean nothing touches that character unless I want it to. With the reloader perk the ammo I use for the weapons just tears through them like butter.

Jury Rigging is OP as hell though. I would understand if someone goes out of their way NOT to take it. You basically unlock "infinite item durability" by taking it. And anyone who uses the Sink as a homebase is instantly my kin.

I often avoid jury rigging because I often find that I repair something with another item I didn't want to repair it with. Like repairing a shotgun with an AMR, or a pair of goggles with a power armor helmet.

Taking Jury Rigging requires that you pay more attention to your inventory, yes, but it's so damn useful I don't mind. Used properly it allows you to wring more caps out of just about any haul by letting you repair expensive items with inexpensive, common ones. Also saves carry weight by letting you do that. I'm not sure I'd call it OP necessarily (it has, at the very least, a huge Repair req) but it's a REALLY good perk.

I can't live without jury rigging. It's the primary perk I'm leveling up for first / in a way that I can hit it at lvl 14 when it becomes available.
