So, here it is. The E3 trailer for Fallout 76.

There's stuff in it, and it looks like the focus of the game will be on "rebuilding".
So far no super mutants, too.

/edit:
Here's the full gameplay reveal at E3:

TL;DR:
There are super mutants, it's online (but playable solo), and it will be released 14th of November 2018.

More important news from the conference. Fallout Shelter comes to PS4 and Switch!

Fallout 76 announced!

After about 24 h of a teasing live stream, Bethesda announced a new Fallout game, much to the surprise of quite a lot of people: Fallout 76.
They posted a teaser trailer, too:

In it we hear the classic "Take me home, country roads" while the familiar zoom-out sequence happens. The trailer shows the inside of a vault, number 76 as we learn, on what is called "Reclamation Day" (or after it), and shows a vault dweller putting on a Pipboy that looks a bit more classic than what we are used to from Fallout 4. The trailer uses a lot of assets from Fallout 4 and given the short development time it is reasonable to assume that the final game will as well.
That's all that is known from the game apart from rumours that it will focus on settlement or building mechanics and that it might be a multiplayer game (not an MMO, though).
We shall see on 10th or 11th of June at Bethesda's panels at E3.
The trailer has also been posted on...

Give me New Vegas 2 or give me death! - Jogre said shortly before Toront hijacked his higher brain functions.

Things got deleted while merging.

Bethesda dropped a hint that Fallout would be making an appearance at E3. I for one hope we will be getting something like the canceled Fallout Extreme RTS or a Xcom style Fallout Tactics sequel, but those are highly unlikely. Almost as unlikely as a possible Obsidian led isometric Fallout RPG.

Some of the ideas I have read boils down to more HD/VR remaster crap. Personally I think it will be something small like a Vault Dweller in Quake Champions or another Shelter update.

Carry on.

Thanks to Jogre for letting me take over his meat sack.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 is coming...eventually.

Not much to look at, but it lets us know we can expect another round of post apocalyptic themed clones.

Metro Exodus will no longer be released this year instead being moved to Q1 2019. Here is some PR speak saying as much:

"The development of Metro Exodus is progressing well; we are all really excited by what we are seeing. We have been constantly reviewing the games progress to ensure that we deliver a product that gamers and fans of the Metro series want and deserve, as well as keeping an eye on announcements from our competitor products. We want everyone to be able to experience what is the most ambitious Metro game to date at its...

The Decline of Obsidian?

The past few days have been enlightening to say the least with what started as a Chris Avellone interview on Codex turning into a full reveal of shady business practices before he left Obsidian. It boiled over into Reddit but the mainstream gaming press has been silent thus far.

Chris Avellone said:
To give a little more detail on the financial issues raised shortly before (and then after) the departure:

Note the financial issues were only part of the discussion points, and we did continue to debate them after the departure. They amounted to:

- I asked about making the company’s finances more transparent, since those were often a mystery. This lack of clarity also interfered with the review process (in short, you can’t do reviews and give raises until finances are in order, and we always got held up on that as part...

More assorted Fallout goodness shuffled my way today, so I felt like sharing it. This should have something for everyone. First we have a teaser from Fallout: New California.

I was going to complain about nothing but action but it is named the action teaser so there's that. Fallout: New Vegas still kicking ass and taking names in 2018.

Now a Fallout 4 project I just learned about (or rediscovered considering it was silent for some time) called Fallout: New Ronto. At least it looks nice. I'm not seeing much progress on their Twitter, but there is a faint pulse.

Best Fallout 4 Mods...

RPS brings us something amusing or maybe sad depending on where you lean on the Karma scale. I figured we would try to pick three great mods out of the list. Shouldn't be too hard.

Trimmed this article down so go to RPS for the full list.

Graphics
Enhanced Wasteland Preset

There are loads of ENBs and Reshade mods out there that can dramatically alter Fallout’s appearance through post-processing wizardry, but I’m rather partial to the Enhanced Wasteland Preset, which has been around forever. If you find the Commonwealth a bit too gloomy, then this might be exactly the panacea you’re looking for, significantly livening up the world with more vibrant colours and lighting.

Stalker Light

If the thought of pretty colours makes you violently retch, and even the...

Fallout 3 remake mod Capital Wasteland is cancelled - surprises nobody!

https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2018/03/13/the-fallout-3-remake-mod-capital-wasteland-is-cancelled/ reports that the overly ambitious Fallout 4 remake of Fallout 3 has been shelved. Gee it's almost like Fallout 4 is the worst designed game in the core series and most mods of this scope never see the light of day!!

qD97Upt.jpg

Plus this just seems unbearably naive, but admirable effort nevertheless.

Wanting to preempt such issues, the Capital Wasteland team got in contact with Bethesda, seeking official blessing for such a move. Unfortunately, the studio weren’t willing or able to offer such support. With little option beyond assembling a massive voice cast of their own, they’re officially calling it quits on the project after a full year in development, although there may yet still be some hope for it.

Fallout Atlanta Alpha Mod for FNV Out Now...

https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/61872/?

One of our NMA members (@lolpop109) recently launched the alpha version of his Fallout New Vegas mod. If any of you have heard of this relatively obscure post apocalyptic RPG check it out.

Welcome to Atlanta. The trading hub of the south and one of the 'must visit cites' in post-apocalyptic america 2280........

There's plenty to see and there plenty to do in one of Americas culturally rich cites. Explore the likes of The world of Nuka Cola and the Super Duper theme park. Take a trip to the memorial park or even take a boat ride down the Chattahoochee River. You won't struggle for a place to stay either, with rooms available at peach tree towers and The Marquis Hotel. Wondering how to get here ? With two Airports located just outside the city, Atlanta international airport and Fulton county Airport, you can fly right into the action. Live more local or fancy a road trip ? Atlanta is severed with...

Codexian CRPG Book Released

http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?threads/felipepepes-encyclopedic-crpg-book-released.120290/

So check it out. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears were shed by numerous contributors (possibly other fluids), so I wager it warrants a passing glance, or perhaps a nod of solemn approval. Whatever you can muster.

Four years ago I began a journey.

On Feb 5 2014 I posted the results of the RPG Codex’s Top 70 poll, in which we elected the best CRPGs of all time. But I felt that a simple list was too dry… more than the ranking, I was interested in WHY these games were good. From there came the idea of asking people to write a short paragraph talking about each title.

This became a updated version of the Codex’s Top...

Dustwind post apocalyptic early access

Give it a look. Looks a bit like Fallout Tactics.

backstory_1.jpg

Twenty-five years have passed since The Awakening – a catastrophic event in which an artificial intelligence called the Mainframe has gone rogue and turned it´s robotic armies against all other lifeforms on Earth.

We barely won the war at a great cost. Ninety-five percent of the population have perished in the global conflict. From the embers of war various gangs and factions arose. Today they fight violently for survival and dominance – like humans always have, and like they always will.

And now the time has come for you and your friends to get rekt while fighting against each other, other teams, or the Evil Computer in Cooperative mode.

ATOM RPG is now Early Access

For those who don't know, ATOM: RPG is a Post Apocalyptic indie game inspired by the golden age of cRPG out now on EA. The team mentions a few names that inspired the making of this new cRPG: Fallout, System Shock, Deus Ex, Baldur's Gate and others.

It is a top down isometric, turn based combat RPG that happens in a (nuclear) devastated Soviet Union and the Western Bloc in the late 1980's.
1h836Re.jpg

Not only did it got successfully funded on Kickstarter, but it also managed to get three of their stretch goals met. So the game will contain a "Player's Base", a "Crafting System" and the choice of playing with a Male or Female main character (which seems like it will actually change reactions, dialogue and the way people act with the main character).

It has been in the making for almost 10 years (had a few bumps and problems on the way that delayed it a bit), but the team announced that the full release will be on February 2018...

Yes, I'm developing Fallout: Sorona for a year so far. But I didn't quite had a time for press-release since a good visual base is required for that, which is left for last development stage (first goes scripting, writing, then graphics). News article is planned with poster and intro video, which are not quite ready yet.

Fallout: New California News Update(Project Brazil)

http://www.moddb.com/mods/falloutpr...ew-california-state-of-the-mod-september-2017

More news on Fallout: New California (previously known as Project Brazil) hit Mod DB. Looks like this thing might actually reach completion. Fallout: New Vegas is sorely needing a mod like this.
Another month, another update!
September went pretty well! Most of the month has been spent more on fixing bugs and audio issues, and coding the main quest, rather than creative art issues so there will be less pretty new pictures and videos this time around.

Also because the in-game ending videos I'm making are super spoilers now, and I wouldn't want to show them, but they will likely take at least a month or more to make. So that means between now and November i will probably go a bit dark, maybe only posting a few images of non-spoiler end game assets. Since we are now developing largely at the end of the mod it gets hard to show fun...

This is worth a watch if you like Fallout. I'm sure there are a few of you here. Apparently the "War. War never changes." line was written during a Simpsons commercial break. The Muse truly does inspire at the oddest times. This can't all be due to a Tyranny DLC can it? Next we will hear they are making their own Fallout with Blackjack and hookers.

The Last Days of Black Isle Studios

USGamer has an interesting article in which Feargus Urquhart remembers the last days of Black Isle Studios back in 2003. It also has some bits from J.E. Sawyer as well.
But youth and ambition translated into energy. Practically everyone at Black Isle was a workaholic. "I remember people loved working on games. Maybe not every single person but overall the feeling was that people wanted to work hard," Sawyer says. "We never had required overtime but people were there all the time. Not that everyone was exactly like me, but we all really just wanted to make cool games, and we were in our 20s."
Here's the article:

Fallout: Project Brazil Renamed Fallout: New California

RPS alerted us to something slightly interesting yesterday, so I will now share that here for you.
01newcali1.jpg

Fallout: New California has been in development for almost eight years, started in October 2009. Radian-Helix released several short beta versions in 2013 but nothing since. But back in June, they showed a two-hour, five-part look at its then-current alpha state. Here, this starts with a brief recap and coos at how much prettier parts have become over the years, then launches into gameplay.

Only time will tell if a fancy new name will bear fruit, but it definitely sounds better.

Another PA Boardgame - Wasteland Express Delivery Service

Kotaku brought this new board game to my attention. The unique art style really makes it stand out. Of course the price I saw put it at around $80 which is quite the investment.

Wasteland Express Delivery Service is a new board game from Pandasaurus, designed by Jon Gilmour (Dead of Winter), Matt Riddle (Fleet, Back to the Future) and Ben Pinchback (Fleet, Back to the Future). It pits 2-5 players against each other as couriers in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, each racing across the scorched landscape in an attempt to complete assignments faster than their opponents.

I spied this pretty tasty interview not too long back, but forgot to post it. With a recent Fallout board game being announced by Fantasy Flight Games I figured it would make a good two for one.

I didn't listen to the whole interview but Chris Avellone did mention a few things on his split with Obsidian.

But wait! There's more! I stumbled upon a Fallout Tactics mod that just went standalone. I have not tried it yet, but i am sure some Jagged Alliance fanatic with nothing better to do can try it out. Let us know if you do.
