8 reasons Fallout 3 will blow you away

Wow :) Everyone can write today. I laughed so much that I couldn't stop. This guy is pathetic.

Body location health bars new? Hello, Deus Ex, just 7 years ago, Call of Cthulhu, published by Bethesda, I think could go on a little more...

Very interesting use of language too. NOT!

I wonder how much Bethesda paid him to write this piece of crap.

I am looking forward to this game, but I'm not about to talk about game of the year unless I play the damn thing. I'm expecting a decent game, I can only hope that the experience will be close to what the original Fallout was.

I've been burned several times by Bethesda before, and they just can't seem to design a bug free and well balanced game. Oblivion was horribly boring and repetitive and I can only hope that they'll find a way to make this game more engaging.

Pfft. Everyone knows that no games worth playing existed before Xbox !

Fallout has become like some slutty ex-girlfirend.
She used to be refined, exclusive.
Now she's a coarse whore that will drop her panties for cheap thrills.

Time to cut her loose boys.

I never minded the slutty ex-girlfriend as long as you could get the occasional revenge bang out of it.

I don't know who Steve Wysowski is, but he is undoubtedly a cretin. I want those 2 minutes of my life back. :twitch:

Why do you keep rewarding them for shitty products and support. This is how EA grew so big. Just stop it.

This is what it's all about.
Subsidizing lackluster mediocrity just because it has Fallout in the title begets more lackluster mediocrity.

And don't give me that shit that you're keeping it alive for better future titles, we already went through that tired rationale with Tactics and FOPOS.

Face it, without Cain, Avellone, Boyarsky, Taylor, Anderson et al, there is no Fallout.

Expecting Bethesda of all developers to pick up the torch for the high water mark of all RPGs is ass-backwards.

Deja Vu...

Has there been any news yet on whether or not they're going to do a construction set? That will heavily influence my decision over whether or not I'm going to buy it. Although custom content hasn't really helped Oblivion much. Even with FCOM convergence (and all those mods) it's still a rather bland experience.

*points to above post* Picture is a wee bit big. I had to roll my scroll button a few extra times. :P

Robotech and Battletech are not the same thing.

As far as I recall, Battletech never featured an alien armada defeated through the power of pop music.

Actaully yes and no to that. The picture that zioburosky13 posted is a model from one the manga games/movies (robotech or whatever), which FASA used along with about a dozen other borrowed designs when they first released battletech, in battletech terms I think its a Wasp battltemech (I dont think its a stinger or a phenix hawk). Anyway at some stage the whole copy right issue came up and FASA dumpted all the 'borrowed' designs (they had permission to use some of them). Which is why you dont see the mech from the original mechwarrior game in the new versions.

Also in the early days they were known as "Battle Droids" but george lucas owns the word "Droid" and they had to drop it.

Macross. Now let's stop this before a Macross vs. Robotech or FASA vs. Harmony Gold/Carl Macek tirade ensues. ;)

Oh, and I just remembered another old game that I recall as having locational damage. Corporation (aka Cyber-Cop). It was first released in 1990.

i bet yall are having a field day on this one, i even want to have a field day on this one sided idiot. more after i read.

The site is a no site, I don't even know why we covered this. Seriously.
Sloooooooowww news week.

Yip. It might have dropped out in a busier week. Alley of Infinite Angles is also doing a series of editorials on Fallout 3 that are infinitely more thoughtful, and we'll probably post that one soon (I think it's a series and am kind of waiting for him to post more).

I see a pattern in these hired scribblings also.

Like they are researching other attempts to sell the status quo while pretending to be disenchanted by the ... whatever ... repetition .. lack of peak experience ... ?
These status quo heros act as if they are addicted to the game entertainment cycle ....

all pumped up after courting and getting the girl to bed, and then go limp when they hear the sound of ... of her peeing like a race horse ...

I get this clue that their puerile frustrations will never be satisfied, BUT they are shilling games and aiding and abetting in their own exploitation.
So guys I am comfortable when many of you all label this writer for hire 'a retard',
a buffoon seeking his private niche audience of the game addicted,
while writing ideological screeds for the world media domination by MS's Xbaux111!!!

Used the "H" word as sweetly as a George Bush crony. The "h" word is now a flag that tags these 'true' believers.

Well, ...

He's copying others or has a note card with the bullet points to cover. Formed a script, or was spoon fed a template.

It's like they (these hired scribblers) are following a script ... as if the real hive mind is this gaggle of hired writers
that have delusions of achieving some opinion leader status in their own little pond.
A worthy goal for some, but this status quo attitude and the ideological use of "hate" as a club to punish free thought, ... doesn't sell Bethesda nor FO3 to me.

I prefer getting the pitch from Bethesda straight.
Lurking nostalgia for Todd, Pete, Emil, and all the other B-soft dev's that have or have not played the FO's.

This puff piece lacks truth ... and it appears the writer is trying harder to lie then one would expect a hired sycophant would need to do.

and ...

Bethesda PR people have to ... relate ... to writers like this?

Sympathy lurks behind nostalgia ....

This is a political year in the U.S. and I am tired of chain pullers, and especially theatrical third party, action committee liars.

There is a guilt by association factor that these smarmy pitch men fail to recognize.
If I wouldn't choose to associate with this hired writer, why would I wish to buy a B-soft game?

Just have to divine in this big mystary, what FO3 is, and what it isn't.

Might just have to unplug, not read third party hacks , and just tune into the main Bethesda PR, and the hard working truth seekers at NMA [naturally ;)].
Might simplify the choice and consequences of FO3 if there are fewer liars in the wood pile.

Simple thought.
FO3 just might make that top sales nirvana of the looming fiscal quarter,
if it's marketed for what it is,
and not for what it never will be.

lol, didn't read the whole article, but from quotes in this thread it sounds like this guys portrays FO3 as The Messiah of games and every game before to be an utter crap!

Hilarious.

Not really. He just seems to be unaware of games existing before the Xbox era.

I'm not, I don't like the term.

This is also a fairly small site, and the editorial doesn't seem based on any new/real experience, so it looks like this guy is just a fanboy looking to do a write-up. I have no reason to believe Bethesda has even talked to him.

It's the fact that gaming journalists revert to this kind of behaviour even without publisher pressure that makes the whole segment so disdainable.

Well heck, but isn't that true of most games, especially overhyped ones?
