General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Yeah man that whole thing felt real. It made the world feel like a real world not like the fake shit from most of the other games in the series. Basically the writing and design was on point. Now it is Game of Thrones again. Whatever. I blame FF14.

I am pretty sure 8 is better but people are gay about Junction stuff.
The plot being trash and the characters being insufferable are bigger reasons why people don't like the game.

15 is fine but you can tell that it was a game that was built and broken down many times over the decade that it was being made.

And me personally i am glad that they are going for more fantasy on 16 because i was growing very weary of the games going for futuristic settings since those dumb 13 games.

I loved the in your face Noodle Cup quest because of how absurd it was and the characters sounded like they were about to burst out laughing when doing it. Also discovering recipes was fun and they all looked really nice. I would've bought DLC for it that was nothing but sidequests tbh. Too bad the game was basically only half complete storywise.

I need to get 15 already. Watched someone play it for a bit when it came out but never sid get it. Good thing summer sale is on.

Spoony is the biggest reason imo. Games was liked at the time.

The only thing that always feels weird and puts me off FF8 is the level scaling. Where it's better if you don't level your characters, since that actually makes your character weaker compared to the monsters. :lmao:

This feels weird to me because I was a fan of FF games way before 8, and FF was always a game series where levelling up made your characters stronger in general, not weaker. If a boss was too hard, well suck it up and go grind a bit to get a couple more levels and then beat it after a long and hard battle, or level up even more and have a shorter and easier battle.
In FF8 you will level up and the enemies will get harder, so it broke the game cycle I always knew in FF games. And that's why FF8 is not as high as it could be, on my favourite FF games list.

FF Tactics is actually better than most of the games but whatever. Tactics Ogre is getting a remake btw. Good stuff.

Total War Warhammer is really fun on coop. I played Dying Light with more people that did not speak English.

Dying Light is amazing in coop, never got around to play it that much, but the few times I did were great, about Warhammer tho, can you play coop in a campaign or just on that skirmish mode?

You can play it on campaign the whole way.

Looks like I will have to convince some people to buy this shit now...

Total War Warhammer was one of the biggest surprises that I had this year truly one of the best strategy games ever. It is pretty rare for me to like medieval fantasy, but the setting of this one is simply fantastic, love the more XVI century design of the empire and also all the other steampunk factions. Hell even the suposedly more generic Bretonnians managed to surprise me too.

Also even judging only as a strategy game it is still a very good experience, just wished the gameplay outside the battles was a little bit more in depht (and an AI that don't cheat all that much)...

I feel like it has just enough depth to be enjoyable. It would be cool to play with a bunch of people. Turns do start to take a little longer near the end but you can always go take a piss or fix a snack while shit is going on.

I definetly agree that too much more depht would start to make things a bit too overwhelming, but some things annoyed me, like the lack of ways to raise public order or to reduce corruption and some mechanics that felt too half baked, like the Elector Counts from the empire, wish there were more ways to deal with them (and that they actually could fucking survive on their own...).

Also the AI can get quite annoying sometimes. Declaring war nonstop, refusing to make peace even after losing half of their lands, and the rate they can replace their troops, wiping their armies out almost makes no difference at all.

I think most of those complaints apply to all ai in games of this type. Public Order and corruption are handled in numerous ways but they can get out of hand if you take territory in land you should not be in. The best way is to use your heroes.
