General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

The genre is fine but I feel like all these nerds wanna just copy SotN and it shows.

I wish the indie developers would try something different with the genre
and the upside down castle is a complete drag that does nothing but pad the game with more easy bosses.

I genuinely dislike the mirror castle. I would much rather have new rooms unlocked in the regular castle.
I also rather dislike how Righter and Maria completely disappear during the second half of the game.

Hello all,

I had wanted to tell you all about the experiences I had with the two games I played last week, the The Outer Worlds and Beyond a Steel Sky.
I had written a text about it but it is becoming so long that I think a lot of people would not even want to start on it because of its length.
As most people here already know about The Outer Worlds I think I could better just tell about BYASS instead. I do need to ad that I do compare TOW and BYASS's themes with another and their settings, and why I think one of them is much better than the other.
I could alter these lines but I have already spend too much time on this and I just want to post it.

It is quite interesting seeing someone talk about Beyond a Steel Sky, while I did not played this sequel yet, I absolutely loved my experience with Beneath a Steel Sky. I am way too young to have played this game back in the day it was still famous, only got around doing it last year, and was surprised to see how an fantastic game could become so obscure nowadays. Everything from the story, to the aesthetics and tone will be forever marked into my mind.

This game also finally managed to drag me into the old adventure genre, I genuinely like the challenge of the puzzles that come with it, even when it takes days to finally get the solution. So because of Beneath a Steel Sky I was introduced to an whole new fantastic genre, and gladly got know some excellent other games. One in particular was Full Throttle, my favourite point and click game so far, it was so good that I played it non stop until beating it.

Now about Outer Worlds, I think it is always good to hear someone else opinion on it, as I already said before here, OW was a huge disapointment for me. I wasn't expecting a extremely deep experience or a game with an AAA production value, but the game for me failed in every level. From extremely repetitive combat and encounters, boring world, really bad setting and story and overral a quite mediocre game. There is a video from a youtuber named Strat-Edgy that summarizes quite well my opinion on the game, really recommend watching.

I prefer Aria of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, Order of Ecclesia and Dawn of Sorrow over SoTN. SoTN is far too easy and the upside down castle is a complete drag that does nothing but pad the game with more easy bosses.

And yes. SoTN was my first Metroidvania.

If anything the mp bar is pointless since i have never ran out of mp to attack. Bosses hitting like a truck and having rather difficult attacks to dodge means you are not constantly spamming the attack button and more dodging.

And yes, Order of Ecclesia has become expensive in the second hand market.

The other games might be better designed (idk) but I like the story and art and everything better in SotN. I don't think there is any comparison.

Been alternating between Bloodstained: ritual of the Night, Castlevania GBA Collection, and God Eater Resurrection. All good games. Got good internet now so I can reliably download games higher than 7 GBs within the hour instead of 12 hours.

I know Conan through secondary sources such as the Marvel comics from the 70s, but a Conan game in which the player gets to play a younger Conan as he just starts out on his adventures and still has a lot to learn would have been really nice.
I think there was a Conan game for the PS2 but it was focused on fighting while I think a Conan game could also include stealth/infiltration, Prince of Persia Sands of Time style climbing and using the environment, and of course also focus on the more horror esque elements so that some parts may play as survival horror as Conan really can't fight the otherworldly things he encounters.

I have a copy of Into the Breach, but I have never played it. Maybe because I find it a bit intimidating to start as I am so terrible at strategy and puzzle games.

Don't be like that just save a lot and don't care when stuff gets blown up. I have a friend that is autistic that really hates losing armies in Total War but they are easy to replace and it is nothing to worry about but he still freaks out anytime he loses one stack. Plus that game (into the breach)is simple as hell. It's not Battletech.

I guess what I am saying is just be persistent and don't get upset. You can do it.

I only noticed yesterday @eissa had upped info on ' Old World Blues' not the DLC for NV a mod for 'Hearts of Iron 4' I had HoI 3 and found that over complicated o I never got into it. Some games like Alpha Centurai and even some X Com need 100's of hours of restarts, replays to make any headway.
So sometimes you can feel a bit overawed by certain games. Total War just cheats in my opinion.

You sir are a born mentor, full of encouragement and sound advice. ( slurp slurp kisses ass/arse ) ;p

I just hate to see people limiting themselves due to mental blocks. I have been there.

This game is disturbing.

I would love to get into Stalker (I have one of them) but all the mods and the various games and some mods that combine the games overwhelms me and I feel like people are basically larping in Stalker anyway like the New Vegas modders that walk everywhere.

I watched 1 minute of that, so it still got a hit.
I had to look up larping cos I never had a jar of glue (clue) as to what that term meant. Urban dictionary gave me the gist.

The only Stalker game I didn't play was ' Clear sky '. The original after years in dev was still buggy as fuck.
I finished it quite easy though as I had the speed booster anomaly so sprinted to the core where it gets supernatural.

Call of Pripyat I liked. Not sure if you have played ' Encased ' this revives the throwing of bolts into anomalies etc.
it's ok but no great shakes.

My entries in Urban Dictionary are Yawnography, Grieflove and Natsy :) Fame at last lol

Call of Pripyat is the one I have the world just feels dead because I know how Bethesda style RPG's operate. I would need to mod it for sure to enjoy it. Encased I do not have yet doing Atom first.

Like the guy in this video is talking about playing in a dark room and shit so yeah it is all about immersion with little else to do but trade and explore and the writing is shit.

I want a Stalker game that takes place in Oklahoma with a bunch of rednecks and no Russian speaking people because honestly I can't deal with that right now they can fuck off.

I take it the Russian guy is Putin (maybe not as I know Mr Stalin pulled his work)

I've played alone in the dark ;p but it fucks up coordination feeling for the keys.

When I play Fallout I buy some beef jerky or if really flush a sheesh kebab and pretend that's Iguana on a stick. Playin NV I would fill my face with sugar bombs but this made me too hyper so I knocked that in the head.

A friend passed me the translated book Metro and I mentioned to him it was also a PC game so I bought it but that was on me old comp so when I bought Metro Last Light it ran like a bag of shite 30 frames per minute. I just barred some fancy lighting and it ran great, so was a card issue.
Btw I have been booted twice ??
